You don't need mandrel bends, but they are better for performance. If you just need to keep your car quiet so you can drive it, then press-bends are fine.

Quite honestly, the people I know who attempted to make a cheap non-turbo exhaust just ended up constantly blowing through cheap mufflers and/or had to add restrictive muffler inserts to keep the noise down. A nice RB catback or budget RP 50mm catback will save you a lot of frustration, and they are just about the same price as you would pay to have them made at Meineke with the same mufflers.

If you have fabrication skills, and recources : You can buy prefabricated bends, and some pipe. Then you cab fabricate your own exhaust.Or if you have enough knowledge about Rotary exhausts, you can go to a exhaust shop and show then how to make it.

You didnt say if its NA ot Turbo ?Emissions ?

Flowmasters work great, but loud. Try to get thick wall tubeing for your exhaust, the thicker the quiter!
