Question European ECU to Jspec engine

Hi.
I friend of mine got a brand new (5000 kilometers) jspec engine for his FD, but he got without the jspec ECU so he connected the european ECU. In order for this to be done, there had to be some modifications to the wiring harness clips that connect to the ECU leaving a wire out(black grey wire).(Probably the 180kph limiter). The car did start normally but (this is the hard part) he gets no indication from the oil pressure, water temperature meters, their warning lights don't go off (stay lit), as all the other warning lights of the car do (they don't go off). I believe that the european and the US ECU's are quite similar, so if anyone has done anything like this and has eliminated this problem, his/her(?) input would be quite helpful.
Thanks Fanis.

We have a Jspec engine, with Jspec wiring harness which connect to european ECU, to european car.
The car works fine for the last 400km. We measured the boost and it goes up to 0.95bar! We pushed the car to 5000rpm just to check the boost. The car has a gutted out dowpipe and everything else is stock.
The wire that stayed out from the jspec wiring harness to the instrument panel is brown. What is the function of that? Also the engine misses some valves and it doesn't have the fuel temperature sensor.
We should take it within the week to a friend to put an air-fuel mixture instrument so we can see how the car is running with all that boost.
Can we see from the engine number, what kind of engine it is?
