doing a 13b-re swap, some q's

hey,

i'm swapping a 13b-re into my '87 TII FC.

here's the questions:
-What is the valve looking thing on the side of the intake manifold? looks like it's got coolant lines going to and from it.

-What vacuum/emissions stuff can i remove, or should i keep, whichever list is shorter? I'm trying to make sense of the rats nest under the intake manifold.

-I removed the heater core from my car, what should i do with the lines from the engine? block them off or run a straight bypass hose?

Thats all the questions i can think of for now. its been nearly 2 1/2 years since I touched my car, so im kinda rusty on my knowledge of these cars.

Thanks in advance!
Jonathan
