? Does The Stock Bov Make Noise
I DONT HEAR ANYTHING OUT OF MY STOCK BOV, JUST READ A POST SAYING THAT THE APEXI BOV SOUNDS LIKE THE STOCK BOV IS THIS TRUE

Yep... loud ones are loud because they restrict airflow and/or open late... when a noisy BOV goes "PSHOOooo" real hard, that's the turbo screaming "Help me!"

stick a party whistle (you know the ones that roll out when you blow thru them), into the end of the stock BOV, cut off the paper and listen! sounds like a zzzzzz sorta sound.. oh yeah!

The stock CRV (BOV) does make some noise if you listen carefully, it actually sounds pretty similar to an aftermarket one, a very soft psssh, which is muffled by being vented back into the airbox.

Yellow Dragon is no more
Ok lets clear up somethings:
1) The stock BOV is really a ABV which is air bypass valve because it directs the air back into the stock air box. Many people cap the box and vent the valve to let the sound be heard better. This is the unmuffled sound most people refer to when they say the Apex sounds like it ... and yes it is now a BOV when you vent it.
2) If you do vent the valve then put a filter on it. In the stock system the air returns back to the filter side of the air filter. They do this so they can have the valve open @ idle and get better performance out of it @ full boost (better performance at less cost for 1 reason). This means @ idle you are sucking in air through the BOV so you had better filter it.
3) The noise a BOV makes is not necessarily relevant to how well it performs. It can but it is not always linked - meaning related. An incorrect valve makes one noise and some BOV do sacrifice performance for sound. However, think of a big speaker horn ... the horn just amplifies what is coming out. It acts as a guide - not necessarily a restriction. Also how the BOV opens is going to affect the sound it makes. Don't believe all this sound business - look at the results. If someone says such and such BOV didn't work ask them why.
Ok, I'll dismount from my box now. I feel better.

I Cut a large hole in the top of my air box (basicly cut the Mazda sticker out) when i first got my FC that made the intake more noisy and you could hear the Bov quite loud when u gave it some boost and is a very cheep mod.
I dont know if you can do this with a Fd as i dont have much experiance with them.

If you want to hear the stock BOV more, get an intake. This past weekend, I got really (reaaaally) bored and hooked up breather filter to the end of the AFM and drove around, the BOV could be heard, and the turbo was loud as ****. Put a real intake on and it quited down somewhat but definately louder than stock.
