Do all bulders of NA rotaries eventually go turbo?

You take 20% for the drivetrain loss? Do you REALLY think it would take 200Bhp froma 1000Bhp drag-car?

The 20% (or whatever) figure is for the STOCK engine, if you dont touch it (like most people) then where's your reason for it sucking out an extra 180Bhp?

As a rule of thumb, gearbox's take around 10-20Bhp to run - NO MORE!!!!

That is the very same point I've argued with others and have come to believe is the truth. Even if you looked at the logic behind it, if you were to loose 200 hp through the drivetrain wouldn't that create a lot of heat?

I don't have a clue as to how this happened but the post above was made by me(crispeed) but it came up under Na_PGT user's name.

I was trying to err on the high side for loss, and yes I would imagine the 20% would be on the stock engine.I would think if you lost 65hp(which to me sounds high)through the Z28 drivetrain when it is stock and then did the modifications neccesary to get 90 more hp and nothing in the driveline changed you would still lose the same 65hp so the 20% driveline loss number wouldn't hold true any longer. Is this what you were tring to say?I agree I don't think the drive line will take 200Bhp from a 1000Bhp engine. If you only lose about 20hp not 20%. 350rwhp from an LS1 wouln't be hard at all.I don't want to start an argument about driveline loss I just wanted to say I think 350rwhp from a LS1 V8 wouldn't be that hard to achieve and still have the vacuum necessary for the power brakes.

Just wanted to add that with drivetrain loss, you have to take into acct that with more power there will be more force applied to the gears, which would increase friction between the gears, causing the amount of horsepower lost to increase. I remember reading in a magazine where they dyno'ed a mkIV supra turbo with an auto, stock, and it only put down 239rwhp, flywheel rated at 320hp.

Reliability is all in the tuning when it comes to rotaries

I love my na. I have never driven a TII but I really want to. I smoke alot of crapy hondas and dying v8's but I want more power. So I am going to go with a TII and keep my na untill it blows up!

RX4/2nd gen. I got my 76 in 78 with 32k on it and I could KILL any thing in it's class.Zcars,Z28. But as time goes on I got slower and slower. I had this YH side draft hooked up to a turbo left over from my corvair days. It put me back on top. Time does move on , and now I have twin tuobos and fuel injectios. That 3gen cant keep up

I'm done with turbos and fuel injection. I had a camry that ran 10psi and the fun of that is over so it's time for the NA rotary!
