Hogan will make you an intake manifold for your turbocharged lawnmower if you want them to! It'll be efficient as hell too! LOL

$3200 for that thing. Of course they custom make each one to your own specs. I'm waiting to see if MVA's is any cheaper/better.

Since you are from Australia you might not be aware of the great reputation that Hogan Manifolds have. They are used by the top tuners in the performance industry in the US. Trust me they know what the're doing.

That is a bundle of cash, for a manifold!!! Some of the tuner shops in australia have some pretty nice looking manifolds for about an 1/8 of the price.

pretty manifold , but I think the same thing with better flow could be made allot cheaper with pre cast, high quality aluminum elbows and laser cut flanges..even mandrel bent 16 Ga, 6061 mandreal bent 1 1/2" would be better pricing then $3200 WOW.

I'd like to know why they chose to make it CnC instead of mandrel or cast tube? seems to me they could make allot mor money, open up the flow and still reduce the cost..

No one has them off the shelf, but most places will make one up for you and it will cost less than $2000AUD, let alone anywhere NEAR $3200USD!!

Its not just one... its the design.

(left to right on the UIM piece, which mates to the LIM piece)

Big + Little = 1st rotor
Litte + Big = 2nd rotor
Little + Big = 3rd rotor

I should note that until a few days ago, Jim also owned the highest N/A horsepower LT1 at 647 hp (he was beat out by two hp).

To say that the manifold had nothing to do with it would be idiocy. I'd say that the manifold is 90% of N/A power!

Keep in mind (as banzaitoyota pointed out) that my 647 horsepower pull was on the base maps, prior to tuning, and with a huge ignition-caused dip through the peak power zone. The other engine's numbers were after final tuning.

My engine will probably make 660-665 horsepower with just the ignition fix, and possibly more after final tuning.

To say that the manifold had nothing to do with it would be idiocy. I'd say that the manifold is 90% of N/A power!
Actually, although the manifold certainly helps, cylinder heads are the key to NA power. Hard to say what percentage of my power is solely attributable to the intake, since I can't swap a stock LT1/LT4 intake onto my engine for comparison. I'd guess that there's probably 15-20 horsepower that are attributable to the intake alone, but the rest is solely a function of my heads and cam. I spent more than twice what my intake cost on my heads.

BTW, Hogan's was not all that happy with the height requirements of the intake and wanted the runners longer with a larger plenum volume. I suspect that if I'd let them have their way that we'd probably have a few more horsepower to show for it, but my intake was purposely built 1/2" shorter than a stock LT1 intake for even more hood clearance. The process took awhile, but was well worth it, in my opinion. The alternative was to run an EFI converted Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake with a throttle body. It would have been cheaper, but probably wouldn't have performed as well and definitely wouldn't have fit beneath the stock hood.

Hogan's builds intakes for many professional drag racers (Wilson's is another big name in the industry where custom intakes are concerned). There is a lot of power to be found in intake designs. So much so that many Pro Stock cars (arguably the most competitive class in NHRA drag racing) actually guard their intake designs by taping cardboard panels over them to hide the details. When a field of 20 cars can qualify within several tenths of a second of each other, every little advantage counts.

Hogan's doesn't just build intakes that look pretty. They're very purposeful, and performance is the first priority. Not how it looks, or whether they could save a buck by using cast aluminum parts or mandrel bent tubes. If you're paying for a Hogan's intake, you know that you're getting the best intake that money can buy, because they will have fully analyzed the flow characteristics of the design before building it instead of just slapping something together that "looked good". I guess it depends on whether getting every last horsepower out of your engine is important to you.
