Question Coils

Does anyone use anything other than the stock coils? I had my trailing coils fail recently, and the ones I got from Ecology are questionable at best... New Mazda coils are expensive, when you consider that a MSD blaster coil is $25 new. Keep in mind that because of the Haltech I do not use the stock ignitors... Not sure if all coils are made equal, though.

Odd no one has responded. Although I believe most (not all) of the people with FC and FDs run stock coils. Heck other cars upgrade there cars with the coils from the FC

Some people seem to go with an ignition amp and that is about it for igntion upgrades (other than plugs and wires). Most of the rotaries I see at the drags that run single digits use stock coils.

If you blew your coils and need some post in the for sale/wanted section. Someone is bound to be selling some (I know I am).

I can get stock coils all day long at Ecology for $15, just wondering if the MSD blasters are actually any better...

Today I put 2 MSD Blaster 2 coils on the Trailing side. The arcing stopped and the output is MUCH smoother. I found these MSD coils with the same configuration as the stock leadings, I think I might try them seeing as how my stock leading coil does not put out an identical signal to L1 as to L2.
