I just read that and I am so very sorry for grammer and also the spelling.
I blame it on being so tired your thread kept me up for to long.
I hope you can make sense of what I was trying to convey.

Just saw your post RX7goZoomZoomBoom. Thanks for the kind words. I did understand what you were trying to say! Anyway, when the pressure dropped, it took me about 20 minutes to get back home in stop and go traffic and that's where the damage most likely came from. I was only a few miles from the house and the car continued to run fine but traffic kept me from arriving home sooner.

The engine is almost back together at this point and I just need to figure out the whole bodyshop situation. The owner does have a responsibility to do the work correctly but I'm doubtful he's capable of doing so. That leaves me with litigation which will just add to the drama and length of time it'll take me to get the car back on the road! I'm driving around in this slow *** Evo (just kidding, it's actually a quite fun car) and I really miss the RX7.

oh by the way, i might call you again soon, i think i'm gonna upgrade to 1600's so i might need your help to mess with the pfc... and i was thinking, if we did that, why not just do a small remap and shoot for 11.1 or so. i'm thinking i should get my primaries sent out and cleaned as well.

An actual update! I've had the engine back for a while now but I've been waiting for some other stuff to happen and figure out when I could take some time off to work on the car. Well, I took two weeks off to refurbish the interior and lots of the mechanical parts on the car. I dressed and installed the engine myself and I should have it up and running tomorrow.

Because of the split oil pan and the bad bearings, the entire oil cooling system was replaced including both Mocal oil coolers and all the associated lines. I had to redo all the AN fittings which was a major PITA. I've taken time to go throughout the car and fix anything that needed fixing, rerouting electicals, etc...The interior is being refurbished and I powdercoated my Volks in satin black along with having my AP Racing calipers done in gold w/red lettering. Car will be repainted and there's a new front fascia being put on as well (RE Amemiya N1).

As usual, the engine looked great (thanks Carlos!) and I can't wait to fire her up again! I've run without the power steering for some time but I took the plunge and removed the a/c as well. It'll make for a much cleaner installation, easier maintenance and I'll be able to fully seal the radiator. I wanted to add the Xcessive lower intake manifold with four 1000cc secondaries and 550 primaries (for good throttle response) but I'll have to stick with my 850/1300 combo for the time being which means I'm limited to about 450rwhp. The motor is good for much, much more than that.

The engine itself was rebuilt from the ground up with all new parts. The plates were resurfaced, new apex seals, new bearings, new e-shaft, all new gaskets, rings, etc...It's essentially a brand new engine. It's no longer my daily driver so she'll be for special events, more so given the current price of gas. It'll be a painful 500 mile break-in! A few pics...

Another shot of the mocal and lots of polished parts. The mocals are 25-row units and I've eliminated the often problematic Mocal thermostat (paraffin-based) and five AN fittings (potential leak spots) in the process.

Damn Michel, you have spent quite a bit of money on your setup. It all looks friggin' fabulous. What turbo are you running again? what are the sizes on the comp and turbine? Also, streetport?

It's a Cosmo 13B RE with a large street port and the port-phased rotors. Turbo is a custom GT40, .94 hot side with the (I believe) 77mm turbine and the GT4088 compressor, 88mm exducer. Normally the .94 hot side only comes with the GT4082 but Sean at A-Spec was able to come up with the 88mm compressor wheel for me.

I really need to update the fuel system, LIM (stock one is port-matched) and the turbo manifold/downpipe to fully unleash the beast. I think my exhaust is a bit restrictive (but quiet) as well.

I was THIS close to getting her up and running today and what do you know, the clutch slave cylinder decided to take a dump. I bled all the brakes and did the clutch last only to discover the blown seal. Nice, real nice. So I wrestled with that for a bit to get it off the car. Replacement will be arriving Friday morning. All I have left at this point is to put the shifter back on and re-install the fuel pumps. I managed to make my float level disappear. I looked for a good half hour inside the tank with a mirror but couldn't find it. If you have one lying around, I'll pay. You can see the high output alternator in the second photo. It's' a 200A unit. I had limited success with this when I first installed it last year. I discovered they'd put in a 14.8V regulator in there which I swapped out for a 14.1V. Should work like a charm now!

Just finished reading this ENTIRE thread in one sitting (after work). Awesome story, very glad to hear you ended out on top with your engine. Thing looks ******* amazing and assuming i get my hands on an FD next summer i really am thinking about contacting CLR to build an engine for it. Deff learned alot in this thread and it was a great read.

Good luck with that beast in the future, rx7tt95.

Also, get some body shots of it up on here once everything is 100% painted and done. And ******* sue those body guys for the money you spent the first time on it and then go elsewhere with the money and get it repainted... if you haven't already :P

Bed time for me..
Mike

Yeah we'll see what happens with the body shop. I'm tempted to have someone else paint it and they can pay for it. I just don't trust them any longer. They did such a poor job on anything fiberglass that Maaco could have done it better.

I drill holes in my thermostat for one and the two large oil coolers help as well. The third mod I'm not allowed to mention but it makes the biggest difference. It's proprietary to CLR.

That would be completely up to Carlos but I'd suspect you'd need to be running his engine package.

Well finally got the car up and running yesterday after troubleshooting a bad starter AND a bad battery. Had the starter rebuilt and slapped a new battery in there....primed the oil system, reconnected the fuse to the fuel pumps and WHAM, started right up. Music to my ears. I did manage to hook the MAP sensor up backwards (quick fix) and then the car died. Yeah, ran out of fuel! I managed to loose the fuel level float so no gas level in the cockpit. Smart move. But hey, she's running! Off to the bodyshop.

Carlos solved a problem last year for me having to do with cooling my motor and I have to tell you that he knows what he is doing. My motor runs cooler with his mod... Praises to CLR... what is the mod.. well that is also proprietary to CLR.

I hope when it is time for me to buy low comp rotors form Carlos and I build my engine he will give me that info. As for now I will be updating my radiator and buting in a lower t-stat. I already have two factory oil coolers.

You'll probably have to purchase an entire engine build from him and it'd be worth it. I did it your way and two engines later, I finally got it right after finding CLR. Spend the money having someone of quality build it and it'll be less expensive in the long run! Trust me, I know all too well.

I would agree with you if I was not a machanic and my friend was not a machanic that used 20b in sandrails. I feel very confedent in building the engine. I am not just try to save money by doing the build myself. I want to take the time and build the engine so I know what is done and if some were to happen I would only have myself tp blame.

I am not saying that Carlos would give me a bad engine. It is working in the field and knowing what can happen.

I hope that I my beable to get some info from him about his tricks. I alos hope to run in to him a ss9. As a matter of fact I will try contacting him so I can find him there to talk with him.
