I ordered two kits(one for the genius who is going to assymble them) and received them within two weeks easy. Unfortunatly the package was found in my screen door with the top wide open. The postal service had lost part of the kit. PETER, at the EDGETECH offered to send a new one for free, but I declined since it was not his fault, that being the postal service. Ordered another one at a discount. I'm mainly writing this to let you know the people at the Techedge site are good people to deal with. Honest and above board.

Does anybody know where I can get my hands on one of those UEGO sensors? The best I've been able to find was $230 through an employee at the local Honduh dealer.

Read up a few messages and you'll see where I got mine for much cheaper.

NTK UEGO sensor

I checked partsbin, and they said that the BOSCH is the only one they could get... Gave me some crap about "Dale Earbhardt Inc. is buying them all."

IIRC there was a warning on the kit page that stated not to use any other brand sensor then the NKG.

Oh well, I guess I'll just spend twice as much!

Did you check Napa Online? Mine was, like, $150 shipped.

Alrighty guys...

I have mine all together and calibrated the display unit.

Only one problem, it doesn't seem to work right! I'm sure that this is my fault, and not the fault of the kit.

Does anyone on here really understand the circuit layout? I know that "most" of the functions are working right, but I'm getting lost somewhere after the Vs Ip Feedback...

So... does anyone who really understands this thing care to help me out?

To anyone else thinking of this kit: Don't get it unless you feel comfortable troubleshooting it. It took probably 10 hours to build the thing and I've spent at least two or three times that trying to make it work.

Well, one positive side of this kit is that my soldering skills are now at least tenfold what they were before.

You might want to get on the mailing list for the thing. Traffic is only about three or four messages a day, and the people seem really quick to respond to requests for help.

I don't understand the circuitry in the least, myself. I got the display built and calibrated after quite a bit of head banging (and finally discovering that I had the resistor you wire in to get it to display voltage for calibration tied to the wrong pin...).

And I'm at about step three in building the controller itself. Finally got the LED to light up after discovering some pictures on the website of the board at various stages that were NOT linked in to the documentation (oh, gee, there's supposed to be another semi-conductor down there next to all the resistors... nice of them to mention it in the instructions...).

The DIY WB site that has a link on the first post of this thread is now offering the kit completely built and tested.

The assembled PCB is going to be about $110 and it'll come totally ready to snap a NTK sensor up. It'll be $150 and if you get the PCB packaged in a rugged diecast case as well.

If you need the display which you will if you dont have some type of dataloging device like a Haltech or Datalogit for PFC. The display that datalogs is going to be $100.

So there it is, you can get the full kit tested and ready to with a dataloging display for $250. The only thing you'd need to buy is a O2 sensor for about $120-150 (according to thier site).

I'll probably do this, to have a nice wideband tested and all with the dataloging display for $400 or less is awsome. I can rent that baby out when I'm not using it!!!! I dont need the display since I have a datalogit and that would make it even cheaper but if your like me and think you can rent it out others will need the display.

You guys that are working on yours do you think buying the board ready to go and tested for $100 is worth it?

Later,
STEPHEN

I have the complete non-assembled kit if someone wants to put it together. 80 bucks via paypal and I'll cover shipping in the US.

Let me know...

Matt,
I'd pick it up, if it has the LED thing with it as well.

I just got my kit and since I have an EE degree and plenty of time soldering and testing things, not to mention pro equipment, It looks pretty straight foreward. If anyone would like me to put their's together, 80$ + shipping sounds fair to me. Drop me a line. I should have pretty quick turn around. Right now Im outta town for a week but I have email and you can PM me. I'd enjoy putting some of these together. Anything to help the quest for HP!

Be careful here... The DIY o2 Natzi's will be emailing you sooner or later. If you read all the fine-print on the site, it specifically states that you can in no way make money from the kit. This includes your time, which they seem to think is worth nothing.

Not something I agree with, just speaking from experience.

I think what they are talking about is not helping a brotha out putting it together. what they meen is not to put them together and sell them..

While I agree with that idea, that is not what they say... According to the original DIY agreement, you can not profit in any form...

That is what I was told as well...

It *is* a wideband...

It uses a true wideband sensor. If you build it correct, or buy it preassembled from techedge, it is just as accurate as the wideband you use at the dyno shop.

How do you hook it up to your autometer AF gauge?

You don't. It has a different voltage output.

They have a different led display with it. It has the led bar, like the autometer, but also has an actual numeric display of the air fuel ratio, like 12.5, etc.

It's not in a round housing, so it will have to be mounted more creativly than a regular gauge. But for having a REAL wide band in the car, it's a small issue.
The stock o2, or the recalibrated ones are JUNK as far as tuning aids go.

Is this true? I mean, how do we know that the UEGO sensor is the same kind of sensor used in 'professional' wideband A/F meters?

It's the same sensor Motec uses in their wideband setup.
