boost question

i have a 90 turbo ii with a street ported eng ....it has a full racing beat exhaust downpipe 3 inches all the way back ,kn intake ,.......my car is hitting 10 psi boost and spikes to 14 psi the boost curve is crazy ......my question is
1)how can i maintain boost under 10 psi without spiking?
2)if i buy any bosst controller wheter it be a home depot aka cheap mans fix or a hks ,blitz will that help me maintain boost at safe levels
3) my 90 turbo wastegate is not made to be ported by the research that i have done!unless you can tell me otherwise
40 i really dont want to buy the wolf or haltech as i dont really race my car but i dont wanna blow it up by boosting crazy !

come on help me out!

Here's my experience.

You are kinda right in that the 90 turbo can't keep from creeping. I guess you are hitting 14 psi at about 5500 rpms and then it drops right? Thats the same thing that mine did on my old car. Drove me crazy. It would also be really tough to open up that wastegate flapper and believe me I tried and it didn't help much (maybe 1 psi). Best bet is to get the turbine clipped and put a bigger compressor wheel in it. That'll give you the power and eliminate the creep. If you sell it, please let me know.

Easiest fix for that would be a Pop-Off-Valve not to be confused with a Blow-Off-Valve!
Some people might argue using a pop-off but I've never had a problem.
The HKS one work best for me with the 7-14psi spring. I just plumb it in between the turbo and I/C.
I have done many TII's running with that set-up at 12 psi with virtualy no boost creep.

Talking No silly I was talking about the turbo + manifold!!

Not your car, the turbo and manifold. Let me know if you wanna sell it. Or rather the turbine housing and manifold.

Never thought about a pop-off valve, I would have figured the turbo would be over spinning up there with even less resistance in front of it, might wanna run some good fresh oil for that.

BTW crispeed, I am in the market for about a T04 60-1 you know anyone getting rid of one cheap, and/or a manifold + wastegate?

Thanks,
Patrick Harris
