Bonez rx7 products
At rx7.com they have Bonez intake and exhaust products. I am thinking of buying the intake kit and the Bonez TurboFlo Downpipe and Cat system? Are they any good are the better things I could get for the same price?
Where's a good place to find stuff?
Thanks

okay, but is the Bonez / RP stuff good quality and performance?
Should I go with other brands, HKS, Blits, Greddy, etc or will Bonez give me the same perfomance effects?

yeah there stuff is tested to usually work the best and longest .... if you know what I mean ... there are always tradeoffs in working the best and working the longest .....

I have to disagree with:
Just because RP might(not sure) produce these parts doesn't mean that they're inferior to the "BRAND NAMES". Actually I've heard that some of those "BRAND NAMES" don't even fit properly. As for the performance aspect, you(spyfish) could have made an argument if it were anything else, but with a straight through 3" piece of pipe, there is no "secret" to be found. I have both their SS DP and SS MP, and at one time I had their highflow cat and I think they are all top notch. The fit is perfect and the quality is excellent! I highly recommend all their products!!

Sorry ... I don't know where I implied their stuff is inferior? I meant to say their stuff is quiet good! The point being that there is always something that can perform better, etc ... but it always lacks something. In engineering there is a triangle of cost, performance, and how soon. You can have two optimized, but the third will be comprimised. I suggest the same is true in performance parts with the triangle being cost, performance, and lifespan. So overall my point is that they have tested their Bonez products to be the best possible comprimise between the three. Does what I am saying make sense?
I also agree that dp, mp, and cb exhaust pieces are all kind of the same. Now hi-flow cats well that is different and so are parts like brakes, clutches, etc. I own Bonez cross-drilled rotors and pads and I would buy them again!

Okay, well here's something. I was talking to some guys out on the strip last night and they highly recommend racingbeat's exhaust for the turbo II. I looked at it and they say you get a 59 hp gain! Does Bonez compare in this?

The racing beat setup is the single best setup for a TII, the Bonez stuff can't compare because its not a complete system. The RB exhuast is also very expensive. The person I talked to was a chick. They gave me **** cause my address was different than my credit cards, (just moved in the past few weeks) once they cancelled my order with out telling me. I just liked it better when Trey was there. He always answered any and all of my e-mails. I still would buy from them and think they are great.
I wasn't bashing them or anything.

I was just curious ... I realize you were not bashing them ... they have a new girl and I had thought the same thing. I just figured the guy/girl question would politely answer the question for me.

Bonez cat
I had the high flow cat on my 86 RX, it sounded great and flowed great, but in less than two years, it was completely shot. As in it cored itself, blew its guts into the mufflers. You could look through the hole in the cat.
I'm told by a lot of people that that's pretty much the same thing that happens to any aftermarket cat, though. I probably will stick with carsound in the future, given that I can get 2 years for $130 instead of $300. I would re-use the pipe, but my mechanic cut it (long and depressing story).
I have to second what's said about Rocky, though. Very helpful fellow. Ari was always cool back when he did phones.
I still have the RP license plate frame, even though the cat is long gone...

I have the Bonez street-comp intake. It came with two filters. The regular cone-style, and then another, similar style filter that is much smaller and used to replace the hose that once connected the air pump to the intake. The little filter fits onto the airpump. Anyway, I have no complaints, and although by itself I couldn't notice a huge difference with the filter, I did notice some better throttle response. FYI-when I got my exhaust, I did notice a power gain that the intake probably contributed to.

I also had good service from RP. Rocky called, on his own initiative, to confirm that a part I ordered was really what I wanted, since it (to him) did not seem to go with the rest of my order.

with my old, stock turbo, I ran a Bonez intake. Pretty high quality. Much better flow (if you ask me) than a K&N filter. It had more thought put into design, every piece that I needed fit perfectly. The top of the filter was filter element as well, opposed to K&N with a flat, black, plastic piece on the top of the filter... worked great...
Right now, I'm running a Haltech that I got from them and the High HP Fuel Pump that they sell... both work greatly... although I hear the fuel pump is just a Supra pump with the part numbers removed...
They get weird about some of their items though. Ask them about the RP seals (they are really Hurley's) and they won't mention anything about Hurley... If I were them, I'd rather hawk Hurley than RP... but thats me.
