Blow off valve

Hi,

Is it worth putting a blow off valve on? is the greddy version that bolts on in place of the stock unit adequate? Is the stock unit an actual blow off valve? if so do i need to upgrade? Are there any performance disadvantages to running a blow off valve, is boost spool up slower?, thanks,

Andrew Wojteczko,

Upgrading the BOV is not necessary, the stock bov is fine. If you want to hear a cool noise then get an aftermarket bov. The GReddy and A'pexi are not too good. However, the GReddy Racing bov are good. GReddy makes two types of bov. The HKS SS bov is awesome and has a pretty cool noise.

There is no need to upgrade the BOV if you haven't upgraded very much on the stock turbos. The BOV releases the pressure on the intake portion of the turbo, and most of the aftermarket BOV's are adjustable. The Greddy Type-R BOV is a really good BOV, and I would upgrade them if you plan on upgrading the turo system substantially.

I upgraded my BOV after intake and exhaust, it helps with spool up time just so you know. Also my apex'i works just fine.

At your stage is not necessary but if you want that woooosh.... sound personally I think it is cool. I think you will need it further down the line when you have more boost or when you upgrade your turbo.
