Which is better? HKS or Greddy Intercoolers

This is for the 2nd gen Turbos.

HKS costs more and I want to know why? Is it because it offers better cooling or has a larger diameter?

Thanks,

-M

The Greddy IC will require making a small pipe to reach the stock turbo, and you'll probably want to add a BOV--the stock one can be used with a little welding. I have had the Greddy IC, and I noticed a significant power increase with the IC while still running 7 PSI boost. I would say to save $600 and buy the Greddy kit.

But what are the visible differences between the two? Maybe the HKS one comes with a BOV (I plan on buying one anyway..).

They both look very similar. The piping is even run in the same way. The 87-88 HKS IC is significantly more expensive than the 89-91 model. I have never been able to find out why. You may want to give Mazdatrix a call to find out. They should know.

http://www.teamfc3s.org/performance/T2ic.htm may be of some help. It lists the core sizes.

http://www.teamfc3s.org/performance/T2ic.htm lists some core sizes. Try http://www.mazdatrix.com for Greddy pictures and http://www.mariahmotorsports.com for HKS pictures.

On my convertible I haven't seen air temperatures much above 100 degrees F with the Greddy IC with piping to fit my application.
