Before starting a rebuilt engine..

Ok i have a 1997 rx-7 and the rebuilt engine is going back into the car again today.. I did the table compression test by turning the engine by hand and every half rotation there is an even swoosh sound... i checked for 6 rotations..

Ok i need to know do i need to set anything before starting the car for timing.. i mean do i have to align the mark on the main pulley with something??

I do not have a factory manual..

Please tell me all the things i should check before starting the engine for the first time...

thanks

What I would do is this: pull the EGI fuse or unplug the fuel pump and crank it over for about 20 seconds or so. this will prime the oil pump. also, short the check connector for the fuel pump for +12V and check for any fuel leaks. this will also help prime the fuel system. other than that, it should be ready to start. Also, on Fd's, you can't adjust the timing by moving anything, the ECU has full control over the timing..good luck!!

Ok here it goes...

Will be cranking the car tomorrow.. I will be keeping my fingers crossed... before my last engine died on me this is what my car was doing...

It would not go above 7 psi of boost.. My mods at that time

Apex-i power fc
cat back
Bigger SMIC
Apex- Radiator
Greddy E-01 Boost controllwe

When this problem came.. which was right after a rebuild and after the runin.. i thought that it must be a shot turbo which might have been damaged when my last engine went.. So i went single turbo.. But the same problem persisted.. it would not go above 7psi of boost would start stuterring and backfiring...

Then i switched back to the twins... no change

It ran fine below 7psi of boost... but whenever i start the car and boost it the first 2-3 times it make a loud cracking noise from near the turbos... it was the same with the twins and the single..

Then one night out of frustration i gave it 2-3 WOT runs with the stuterring and backfiring was the same so i brought the car home and parked it.. it did not start easily in the morning and idled around 400 rpms.. wanted to die... also when i started the car it did not idle high as it used to before when first started when cold... Also on the power fc commander the vaccum shows +.24 kgs even with the car off??

So i got the engine opened and found one broken metal plug which are under the the apex seals...

I got the engine together.. did the table compression test and there are 6 even swoosh sounds...

It is going back in tomorrow.. Please tell me what i should check...
Also once it happened that it stopped taking any boost.. as soon as boost would come the car would feel like it was dead.. and if i would let off the acceleretor it would come to life again... this problem went when i switched to the Power fc and installed some ground wires.. did both the mods together so do not know what fixed it..

Please please please help me out...

thanks
