Anyone ever look into cryo treatment for the motor???

subject says it all.

Just wondering if anyone has ever looked into cryo treatment for engine parts? Would there be anything wrong with cryo treating of the seals or something along those lines.

What do you guys think of cryo?

Thanks,
STEPHEN

Rob at Pineapple has been doing it for years with great results. However, there are many different places that do it. Some will under treat them (Not keeping the part cold enough, long enough) and still charge you full price. On the other hand, when Rob first started he had some oil control rings croy'd. They where over treated, and the oil control rings took 14k miles to break in. Yes, 14,000 miles, before they where seated all the way in. (The problem was fixed.)

If done right, its not only a gain in longevity of engine parts, but will increase hp too. If done incorrectly, you might not get what you pay for, or have something that takes forever to break in.

Also, I know that Rob only does new parts, nothing used.

I have personally never had engine parts cryo'd, but i have had transmition internals done with great sucess.

I'd be wary of anyone who claims cryo treating will give you better performance.&nbsp Certain engine parts are designed to wear.&nbsp You start hardening parts, you'll just accelerate wear on the other mating surface.&nbsp Now if you harden the ENTIRE motor, that's another story!

you know it
There were a few big threads about this, mainly brake rotors, and one thread explaining how cryo treatment worked

Yes, I'm aware of that Node.

Interestingly enough I dont remember anything in my post asking about brake rotors or the actual treatment itself. I already know how the treatment works, and what it does for brake rotors.

I also spent over an hour on the phone with a cryo company that specializes in motorsports and does tons of motors but has never done a rotary engine. I was just wondering if anyone had any input or experience with cryo treating internals of the rotary.

Later,
STEPHEN

What about transmission internals such as Imput shaft and internal Gears. I could see this as being a performance upgrade by strengthening the tranny to support more power for high hp cars.
