Question Air pump ?'s

My return air pump air line(runs from behind manifold) is not pumping out air. Does this mean my air pump is bad? I did not worry about it when I had my MP on the car, but I just threw my HF cat back on, got tired of loudness from MP. But my exhaust stinks worse now then when my MP was on. Gave me a headache. So, I assume my cat will be shot in no time. Any ideas?
There are a set of two wires coming from the airpump. Three weeks ago, I found one of the connectors broken, so I cut off connectors and just stripped and connected the wires. I dont think I reversed them, but if I did, would this somehow cause the airpump to not work? I think I recall my airpump not working before then, but did not dwell on it since I had a MP on. But now....

Thanks,
Steve

The A P clutch is not pulled in all the time, watch it and rev up the engine, if it does not meet spec. swap the wires and try again.

Switched wires and still nothing. There should be air coming out of my return air at all times, right? Even if I had a Mp on there, the air pump was never disconnected, air should have been pumped through line and returned.
Man, the smell w/ HF cat and no air pump is worse than Mp and I adjusted my fuell cells down some(on PFC) at idle rpms.
