Advice- track day pads

What is everyone using for track day pads? How long do they last, and how do they get along with rotors?

I've run the Hawk Blacks. They are awesome. Others ran the HP's or HPS's (whichever one is supposed to be the street/track pad). They reported good results too - though I noticed some light, malodorous smoke after shutdown. The blacks are tough on rotors, and don't stop well when cold. At tempreture, they were fantastic. If I over heated them, they would start to feel a bit "grabby", but that's not necessarily a bad thing - as long as you're expecting it. I did experience some tailhappiness at the limits, but that could be a number of things. I'll probably try Hawk blues on the front next time, and leave the blacks on the back.

BTW, if you have time, change your fluid. Best bang for the buck (by far) is the Ford Heavy Duty fluid ~$4.25/quart right from the dealership.

Enjoy your time on the track. Its the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

All best,
Steve C.
