Question 325HP.... What it takes...

I ahve a Question... I have an 85' GSL that is completly stock and an 87' SE that has been race poted and polished and has a larger TB and an insulated cold air intake, all emissions also have been removed. The exhaust is RB headers and Magnaflow to the back... I'm 18 and I have bought these cars with bad engines and I've rebuilt them both once. But I want a turbo rx7 in the S5 range that meets certain qualifications. I want to know how much it takes to get to 325HP. I don't want a car that take any thing in town. I don't want a car that has weird runnin charicteristics (hesitations, eneven power band etc.). I just want to get some extreme Ex. porting done done to it and only mild "streetable" porting to the intake... to add back grond. But what kinda things do I need fo all this...
Fuel, turbo, apex seals, intake temps, boost, and anything else not mentioned.
Any one woth a car close to my dream specs?

you will need a turbo for over 300rwhp
stand alone ecu or fuel/ignition tunability
built internals for realibility

How much of a build do you think I need? Just beefed up apex seals, or do I need to go ahead do the whole nine yards (cryo, modded stationary, race bearings, etc.)? And what turbo do you recommend fo some one who just wants to make it to that point and nothing more.... I want one that makes enough power, but not too big that lag is excessive.

a good turbo for that power range will be a 60-1

just regular mazda oem rebuild kit, the rest is optional for that extra protection and durability

STAND ALONE ENGINE MANAGMENT SYSTEM-

oh and a little street port wouldnt hurt either

i made 315whp@13psi with a upgraded stock turbo, halteche6x,fmic, fuel pump, injectors etc. idles @890rpm no hesitation, smooth powerband , its driven 2-3days a week to work and on wknds. i would have tuned for more power but the stock wastegate wasn't letting bme raise the boost anymore. i just added an external wastegate so my plan is to go back and tune for 18psi.

There was a thread recently where a member made 638 rwhp, and he still daily drives his car on c16. Make sure you slap whoever told you that.

Ok, this is a true account of my buddy's car back in 96

My buddy had a 91 TII stock motor 60,000 miles (SUPER Clean!!! white on black leather)

Anyhow he put a FREE FLOW 3 inch RB down pipe to 3 inch RB presciencer 3 inch 1ultraflow single tip muffler, Fuel cut defender, huge K&N cone filter.

That was it the car ran like an animal he put he put down close to 300hp at the wheels, I was personally in the car when he berried the tach at 160+.

I have been doing rotaries for a while I don’t claim to be any guru but I will say it takes less than most people think to get the those numbers

so basically, just exhaust and he bagged 100+ HP??? there's some kind of miscommunication on your end - has to be. i can and do agree with your closing statement, but that had to be more than exhaust at work.

only 325?

ok

Hybrid s-5 turbine, maybe a BNR would be a good choice. (cheapest)
or a smaller to4e say a 57 trim with a .84 "P" trim ex wheel (will require new manifold/DP/wastegatae)
upgraded intank fuel pump
stock pressure regulator
1000cc sard/nippondenso secondary injectors in stock fuel rail
stand alone ecu to manage the contraption.

done 325 guaranteed all day long totally streetable.

this is the minimum, don't skimp on the ecu or the fuel side and do not let a joker tune it.

well i would agree, but it does take more to get those numbers safely. i doubt your friends motor lasted more than 5k miles like that

+11. if your budget is a problem, rtek 2.0 will get the job done and its cheaper than a standalone
