12a Streetport, what to expect??

I have an RX2 and will be getting a SUPER killer deal on a rebuilt 12a with a streetport. I am just curious what to expect as far as power gains go, my current engine runs good but has some issues.

Also what gains could I expect from changing the carb/intake to a mikuni, what gains should be expected with that swap?

Are these gains substantial or are they more mellow gains? I have tons of experience with muscle cars and cars in general but not much with a rotary. For the most part I understand the basics but true performance and tuning tricks are greatly needed.

I did do a search and found TONS ! of information but not specifically what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance for and advice or opinions.

Well, the streetport will yield a nice power difference. Not only on the dyno, but also more enjoyable, pants to the seat driving!

The engine your planning to fit ,does it use Rx7/Capella or Rx2 Rotorhousings ?

Power should be in the region of 180+ flywheel Hp ,with a good flowing exhaust, and proper carb/injection.

Whats the size Mikuni your going to use ?

I highly doubt you will see 180 flywheel hp with a streetported 12a.

would you think that this car ( rx2 ) with the streetport, 44 mikuni and a proper tune would shred a new mustang, not a cobra just a gt.

I am also looking at a turbo setup, running the streetport and the turbo setup at 6 psi would it shred the mustang?

Obviously there are good streetports and bad streetports, but no reason why, with a good header and mikuni you shouldn't be somewhere over 180 at the HP.

For a reference, if you look at the Hitman's site he had a 180 at the wheels (and guessing that is dynapac not dynojet HP) with a mild port and EFI. Mind you he admits he spent a LOONG time tuning it.

As ever the secret is in the tuning YMMV

You show me a streetported 12a dyno sheet with just exhaust, 44 mikuni making 155-160 rwhp. I've seen brand new S4 NA streetported with a header and full exhaust only putting down 150ish rwhp.

Like I said show me a dyno sheet and prove me wrong.

Now rememeber. You cant really compare Rx2 ,and Capella/Rx7 rotor housings.

The flow, and timing that you can port Capella/Rx7 housings to ,is way more than a Rx2.The Rx2 has 3 small holes for a exhaust port, that can be cut into one, (Smiley port). The Rx7 port can be made huge, with loads of timing.

As for the intake ,the port lenght, and porting capabilities of the different housings differ greatly.

Last but not least ,the tuning ,exhaust ,and elevation correction also makes number differ.

Isn't the 12A engine a 4 port engine? Wouldn't it yield better gains for street porting percentage wise than a 6 port engine?
