He's the smartest engineer you know!? How the hell did he plan on getting enough compression to start a diesel rotary? 36 volt electrics to spin it 1500 RPM?

And how did he plan on getting all the fuel in and burned at high RPM?

Now going off topic..

My hopped up Dodge pickup had it's torque peak below the idle speed of a peripheral port rotary and at 300hp made about the same power and at 1/4 the RPM. Sure it's 5.9 liters and turbocharged, but it was made to tow.

Its been done sucessfully by a friend of mine in the late 70's. It was based on a standard 12a and used a turbo to bring the compression up. There is a picture of it somewhere on this forum.

OMFG somebody went way back to dig this one up, lol. I didnt think it would ever have another post, lol!

Anyways, yeah I have been working on the 12a renesis project, but its not going into my project modernized FB rx7(it gets a twin-turboed 13bMSP). the only probs i ran into so far really were the positioning of the coolant seals, and how to plug the 12a peripherals and lessen the size of the new side ports to match the volume of the smaller combustion chamber. chooping the blocks shorter should be easy, maybve i will post some pictures of both the engine and the car projects soon. also the new 12aMSP rotor will have to be given the same machining as the 13bMSP as far as the fillets and new rotor lips...these things take time...but yes it does help to have friends who run machine shops and i have a couple so i dont have to really even fork out any beer either!!

Just because you're slapping together different housings and irons doesn't mean you have a "new" idea. It sounds like you're going out of your way to sound cool, when a simpler solution (dropping in a WHOLE 13bt) is 10x easier. Maybe you should just cast and forge your whole motor.

I agree with those guys though, you throw a bunch of crap out, ask it is feasable, then say you have engineering skills. Yeah... uh... ok.

yes i have the general engineering know how to do it...i was just throwing it out there because at the time i had about three different paths that i could take to create the motor, and i wanted to see if anyone had tried something similar, and ran into something i hadnt foreseen. I'm not trying to sound "cool," im just probing for any info i may have missed when i planned out the idea. That was quite a few months ago, and now i almost have it done, i just have to plug the peripherals and machine the 12size rotor...but it does still need a car for me to drop it into.

stop being unique and start being real.

if i saw someone rolling w/ a renesis motor on an FB, that is unique enough for me.

keep it plain and simple, and most importantly doable.

I don't see any point in going any further with this. What is this engine going to do that engines that are already developed and tested can't do?

just toss in a turbo 13b and call it a day.

Diesel-rotaries exist for large marine applications. Available only as 2-rotors, two options are available: 500 hp and 750 hp. I was reading about it about a year ago in my father's boating magazine. I have no idea how big the engines are, but I imagine they are huge.
