6Port REW - Best of Both Worlds?
Just wondering, Is it possible to use a 6 port Iron Side housing (S5 NA)on an REW engine. This way you would have a 6 port FD. I think this would give you the oppurtunity to port the hell out hell of the 6th port, and when you are doing the "normal" street driving, you can get fairly decent gas mileage due to the lower overlap and smaller first ports. Just wondering if it was even close to practical

my fd gets 23mpg on the freeway, the gsl-se gets about 25, thats a lot of work for a theoretical 2mpg....

Also the S5 rear plates don't have the provision for the FD motor mounts, so some fabricatin' would be necessary. As well as the intake manifold issue.
And then of course there is the little problem that 6-port side housings suck, at least as far as strength and flow efficiency are concerned. Oh and the way big huge port timing even in stock form, only the shape is nasty and you can't fix that without making the timing even further off into the deep end of big huge.
