XR4Ti Kills Acura

So last night, I'm talkin to my buddy who is in his Del Sol and we are both revin our motors at Sonic. We decide to leave and he takes a left, me a right. Just as I start to pull out an Acura Legend pulls out from the other side of the street goin the same way really punchin it hard. The light ahead turns red and we line up next to each other. It goes green, I mash the pedal in my XR4Ti and the Legend spins the tires taken off. I kept ahead by about a fender and let off at about 55. As it passes, I look over to see the driver and it was some blonde chick in her 20's with her boyfriend ridin shotgun. I couldn't help but laugh.

Why is your XR4Ti so slow? I thought they were quicker than that. Love that 2.3T, awesome potential in that motor.

My XR4Ti runs 16.3 stock. I put a high flow dual exhaust(no cat, tip mufflers only) on but it didn't run any quicker. The car stock has 145hp at 15psi boost in a 3000lb car. It also has a 3speed slushbox.

Okay..so the XR4Ti had a detuned motor? That sucks, I thought they made more power than the SVOs.

My mistake.

They were more the pre 87 turbo coupe motors than svo motors. The svo had a better turbo and had a top mount intercooler. The xr4ti's didnt have intercoolers on them from the factory, so their turbos werent all that effecient.

Thanks for the input bigdaddyp. People always think that it will run faster than it does. But considering that the 2.3 started as a 88hp N/Amotor, 145 isn't too bad.

being a mustang fan, I know what the 2.3T is capable of, but I never looked into the XR4Ti or TC, I just assumed they were equal to or faster than the SVO since they were newer.

On a side note, want to sell that XR4Ti? It'll get a nice home.

also on(I believe) pre-91 Mustangs, the 2.3 had 80hp
