who would win- 240z vs. SA

well, a little less than a year after i bought my 79, my cousin bought a 240z. His is stock, while mine has the racing beat full exhaust. In a strait line test, who would win? (I can't wait until they're road-worthy)

i'm down 25 hp, but will the rotary still be vicorious?

what do you guys think?

I had a 79 first gen for a while and also owned a 76 280Z. While it'd be close, I think the Z would pull a little bit. Go race and let us know!

I would go for the 7, but it depends on its condition. Z blocks are damn good and remain powerful for a long time.

the z will beat you. i've owned both and the z easily makes more horse power (and alot more torque) in a chasis that weighs roughly the same as your car. i love my 3rd gen over a 300zx tt, but an early z outperforms an early 7 in a straight line by quite a bit imo.

If the early Z is running right it will kill the SA. The original 240Z was significantly quicker than the later ones, up until the 280ZX turbo, because it was lighter and wasn't choked to meet emissions. I believe they run low 16's or maybe even into the 15's, while an SA might hit a high 16 second quarter.
