Question What is that yellow car back there???

I went out of my way to hit a freeway on ramp on the way home today. Just a basic right hander, in 2nd gear, and then merge. I like this particular ramp because it is seldom used. There is never anyone in front of me, so I can go as fast as I want. I go around the corner with a bit of tire squeal, and accelerate onto the freeway. I look behind to make sure there are no police. No cops, but there is a bright yellow car just a few cars back. I can't tell what it is, but I can tell that it is a sports car, and it is pretty new. I pass a couple of cars, and then slow down, knowing that there is a nice long straightaway not far ahead. The yellow car is moving thru traffic, trying to catch up. I still don't know what it is, but I am pretty sure there is going to be a race It is only a car or two back now. It has some strange looking headlights. Finally it passes the other cars..........

It's a brand new Corvette C6 with a different looking set of headlights. Definitely not the stock setup, with the normal single clear cover. I have only seen a few Corvette C6's on the road. Maybe they are more plentiful elsewhere. Not many around here. Anyway, I have always wondered how I would do against one. It looks like I'm going to get a chance

I'm going about 65 mph, and the C6 is behind me, and on the left. I wait for him to pull along side so we can go together. He decides not to wait, and he goes. He gets past me, so I jump on it. Then he slows, and we go from about 75 mph ..... and I am pulling on him YYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! We go to about 115 ish before I have to lift for traffic. I only pulled about 6 feet on him, but it was constant the whole way.

When he initially passed me, I saw that the car didn't even have license plates yet. Brand new!! Made my day. He probably wasn't too happy

The C6 is not the same as a Z06 and yes they are 400hp to the crank and weight in at 3400lbs and change, to my knowledge. Nice kill Adam.

Thanks all. There is no dyno place in my area, and I don't feel compelled to travel to get it done. It doesn't really matter to me what the numbers are. It has to be somewhere around 300 +/- 10 rwhp.

If it only has 280, I don't want to know

505hp to be exact. C5=345, C5z06=385/ 405, C6=400, C6z06=50hp. Me=alot more than that.

The c5/c6 denotes the generation of corvettes, like FD versus FC

All hail the cheap bastard!

I've seen quite a few C6s around here actually. I often mistake them for '99 miatas at first glance, at a distance & in the mirrors; they have that same sort of headlight/mouth mugshot. It's not until I see the profile or hear it that I know it's something much meaner.

I don't know about this one.... I am making 365 rwhp and raced one from 80 to 160 and only had him by four cars.. clean race too.. I think the one you played w/ have been auto or he did not shift right.....good kill none the less...

I can't say what gear he was in, but he may have been in the wrong gear for the race. I have raced a stock 02 Z06 before. It was a good race, but the stock Z06 beat me by about a car length from 20-120.

The C6 appears to be about 100 lbs heavier than the 02 Z06, so that may have been a factor too.

Probably just a bad (or overconfident) driver, in the wrong gear
