VIDEO: My CYM vs.04 Mach 1 vs. full bolt-on Mustang GT
Here's a video of my CYM right before I sold it. Its a race between several of my friends. In the video there is:
1993 Yellow RX-7 w/ silicone vac hose job, Racing Beat springs, Tokico 5 way adjustables
blue 2004 Mustang Mach 1 with K&N drop in
white 2001 Mustang GT w/ full bolt-ons, 4.10 gears, cam. GT went ~12.6@109+ off the bottle, runs 11.6-11.7s on the bottle. In this race, he was off the bottle.
silver 2004 stock 350Z base
Enjoy!

I find that VERY hard to beleive that you ran a 13.1 with a stock motor and just suspension work. Vac hose job does not increase hp in any way, so with your ~215whp car weighing in at around 2,800lbs, i don't see how it is possible for you to run a 13.1. I'm not bashing, i'm just curious as to how you came up with 13.1, especially on like 10 year old tires!

No offense taken. In all honesty, my RX-7 was probably a 13.7-13.9 second car with an average driver in it. But I make up alot of time between gear changes then the average driver does.
As for the tires, I did consistently get 2.00 60' times on the original tires. And FWIW, my CYM ran a 13.5@105 with a very small vac hose leak that progressed over time. Eventually I was getting beat by mildly modded all motor Maximas. Thats when I knew it was time to fix the leak. Then I did the silicone vac hose job and I couldn't believe the power I got back. Night and day difference.

Also, i forgot to mention that the white mustang GT ran the 12s on slicks, NOT street tires. On street tires his car is probably about a 12.9-13.0 car, so you can see that it is a fairly close match.

I never thought to ask him...

unless your car is a mutant freak there is no way you could rip off a 13.1@107 i did a few horsepower calculators and with your speed you would have to have 287 rwhp and with your e.t. you would have 264 rwhp. but anyways nice videos it looked like past 90 mph your FD owned.

I dont know about mazda/rx7's but for honda motors, for some reason some where biult so much stronger then others. I had a extremely strong b18c (gsr) motor in a civic. I was being people with my motor with turbo in a civic body. For what I Know rx7's are high 13's but its possible that he just had a dam strong motor that does better then usually.

Agreed. FWIW, I always used Marvel Mystery Oil in every single fuel fill up when I had my FD. I also did oil changes at every 500 mile interval, spark plugs every 3,000 miles and coolant flushes every spring, so I would hope that my obsessive preventative maintenence would keep the motor running 100%.
Anyways, I do believe the driver makes all the difference. Its the reason why some of my friends sometimes ask me to drive their car for them at the track. I usually trap higher in their cars then they do. For example, I drove that very same silver 350Z you see in the video at the local 1/4mi strip. It was the first time I had ever driven a Z and I did horrible. The tach was a little bit off, so just when you thought you had another 200rpm to redline, you'd bounce off the rev limiter, LOL. Anyways, on the first pass I made with his 350Z, I spun first bad, hit the rev limiter in first gear, twice in second gear, once in third gear and still almost trapped 101mph.
I also have video of my 282hp, ~3900lb stock 540I putting almost 3 cars on that very same 350Z from a 40 roll. Yeah, I'd say a good driver can make up alot of mph between several gear changes.
