my car could definitely use the extra gear, it doesn't have any problem pulling at higher speeds but whether i would trust the car at 190 is another thing.

it would probably finish off a full bottle of my methanol in a single pull too, would suck to run dry at the peak of the run...

 

Why have a 6th gear when our cars are geared to hit 180+mph already (5 speed manual). Obviously you are going to need more power than stock to be able to do that.

you would be hard pressed to see even 170 with a T2 drivetrain setup(which is what i have). n/a has the capability for over 190 iirc but nowhere near the power to get there.

 

I thought you had an FD?

I know that when my friend(FD) was at 150, the engine was only at 6,000 RPMs. You can do the math and see that that'd be 175 @ 7,000 RPMs, stock redline is at 7500, so that'd be 187.5 MPH(obviously, you can't pull that with stock power, but it wouldn't take many mods to get the power to pull it). Then factor in a street port and tuned EMS(and more power, probably need a single turbo to keep making power that high), you can pull to 8k-8500 with the stock e-shaft...

so...I'm confused by what you're saying..

 

That wasn't that fast. I've gone faster than 191mph...............In a F*UCKING PLANE!!! That thing sounded awesome when it passed everyone.

 

i have an FC, i visit the third gen section since i work on all models of 7. though i don't own an FD i do drive them almost daily.

i never paid much attention to the FD gear ratios but i assumed they were the same as the FC with the 4.10 rear end and the tranny is internally almost exactly the same. the FC tops out around mid 160ish with the stock gear ratios but can push higher if you go higher than redline.

 

just swap in a 3.909 rear lsd out of a gxl auto and im sure you could hit 190 with enough power.

 

Hmmm.... We should get a 500 hp rx7 to do the same and see how long it takes the 7.
