A usual small town big ego story.

Hi all. First time posting in this section. I currently own a 94 FD that I inherited from my brother. Mods are Petit Ecu, Apexi 5 way adj coilovers, M2 Stockmount IC, and an Apexi 3" DP then RB all the way back. I spike 16 psi at WOT.

As for the Kill. My family and a couple others are the only rotary scene around. Weve never ran around loud mouthing other piston powered imports or acted like ********. Even though were surrounded by the uninformed, misinformed group of v8 goobers of Ellenboro WV.

One ******* in particular who I never physically met has repeatedly sent word through the grape vine that his 07 Roush supercharged fartstang is coming after me. Like I care. One evening while on my way to a date he pops up beside me on the highway. Immediately, I knew it wasn't supercharged. It sounded like my Jeep Grand Cherokee...

I'm already in the passing lane with my windows down and sunroof open near dusk. I have two Defi gauges on my A pillar. Boost and Temp. Simple. For any of you with experience with that particular gauge, you know you can shut them down with the dimmer. I usually keep mine that way cause of the attention it attracts. Anyway this guy has no idea what an FD has under the hood. Told people it was a 4 cylinder and wasn't boosted and blah blah. So while he is giving me the stank eye beside me, I gently scroll the dimmer up and my Defi gauges do that sweet little flashing start up sequence. Suddenly I have extremely wicked gauges showing and Mr Mustang realizes this here is Rocky and he aint no puppy.

I give him just enough time to floor it before I pull back into 4th and catch him like hes on a tricycle. As I pass him I give him the bye bye wave and grab 5th blowing that ****** into medieval times. I didnt let off till I pulled a near a full mile straight stretch then up a hill and over the other side. Didnt see him again that night or since that night.

He traded it two weeks later I heard for a 4 door Ford Sport Trac.

" Thats right Sally, go pick up the kids from soccer practice before you break a nail."

Wondered this myself. Maybe he isnt talking about my car ? Cause with some research you will find with those mods, 14 seconds would be an insult.

Again, maybe he didnt mean my car. Could have meant the shitstang OR perhaps he has been in the 20B game too long

I hear this all the time. And I used to say the same thing. That Oh its gonna blow touching 16psi. Well yeah maybe for the guy who drives like an animal all the time regardless of weather. Ive encountered way more than one instance of this boost range on stock twins that had no issues with more bolt ons than I dare to try.For example XLR8 on the club was running 16 consistently for god knows how long. Then continued to upgrade using that motor to a single GT35r making 386 whp. After 386 got boring he again upgraded but pulled the motor and sold it having great compression and no issues.

So yes maybe to the driver with a constant lead foot and a stock ecu. My AFRS stay safe and I have complete confidence in my setup. Though I'm about to start the BNR stage 2 build with Devils Own AI , fmic, twin power ignition, and an Adaptronics ECU.

Nice you put a smile on my face. Had my fd since 98 when no one really knew what it was capable of and I had a lot of fun. Around here they are no longer considered sleepers but are still fun to drive. When you see one around here everyone knows the little 13b means business. I would love to go to your town and have some fun.LOL! Keep rotaring.

The issue with the boost isn't wrecking your engine's compression, it's blowing your turbo(s). Right?

The spike could also blow your engine for sure. Very well documented engines blown from turbo spike. Take care of that before you have to replace that engine.

From experience, the turbos wont let loose spiking 16psi with my stock intake still on. The issue is the wastegate not being ported. Especially having too many supporting mods. For instance, if you have a full 3" exhaust and upgraded IC you probably shouldnt upgrade the intake yet until the wastegate is ported or you go with a BNR hybrid or get an ecu such as a PowerFC.

So in a way the answer is both. Yes, improperly modded it can **** up the turbos. It can also boost to all buhjesus, and since a stock fuel map only goes so far it would run super lean most likely destroying the seals. Hence why I have a stock intake and the pettit ecu still.

I'm glad you're confident. But, as someone who's run stock turbo FD's for a decade, I'm here to tell you: you're messing with fire.

It only takes once, and large spikes like that indicate your boost control is overwhelmed. A decent BC setup should prevent this problem. You may just have a solenoid on the way out.
