turbo'd probe with ze motor.

so my friend thinks he has the fastest car around. Its a ford probe with a mazda "ze" (i think) motor. he has mega squirt intake exhaust and a custom turbo kit. He was running 9-10 psi. I heard him telling everyone he would destroy my 7..so i was like ok....find the spot where he and his friends are hanging out at..i pull up and never even got out of the car when everyone comes to me and starts telling me how he will beat me.....so i look at him and tell him "lets go" we go out to the highway and do a 40 roll. we were about even till 80-90 where i had him by about a car and a half untill we shut down at 140-150. did it about 3 times to to check he was def impressed with the 7.

i was spiking 14 psi and holding 12...wish i could figure out how to spike and hold 14psi....

Wow, pretty good for a probe. I wouldn't have expected it to keep up the way it did.

stock ecu, with a hks fuel cut defender.....i also am running a additional injector controller (called split second) that controls the additional 2 750cc injectors I have. It monitors boost pressure and as the boost raises above 8psi it activates the additional injectors to pulse enough fuel for my desired boost level...

320-330 sounds right. Why not have a stand alone and tune? Car would be much better off. Probably drive better. Turn the boost to 15 w/ proper fuel set up. I used to run 12 psi w/ a pettit unlimited. Now at 15 to 16 w/ microtech. The car is a totally different animal . G

turbo ZE is a nice motor. He ran out of gear at 140, though. I'm surprised you took him above 90mph. At that point, he'd have much lower gearing than you, and a similar redline(7k vs 7500).

Nice kill. Tell him to get a CZT tranny, CZT valve train and up the boost to 16 PSI then run you again. That's assuming he has a decent sized turbo.

Ha ha, turbo probe.. that brings back memories. i had one but it was a built kl-03 motor. the KL-ze is too high compression to run much boost. When it was my car, i first ran N20. killed the auto tranny, swapped out to a 5 speed. a year after that the rings gave way. SDO we had it built to 9:1 compression, still stock heads with arp studs and MLS head gasket. Then we supercharged it with a vortech blower, didnt make much power and didnt build boost until 6000rpms! lol. So we built a turbo kit using a t3/t4 and it mounted above the front bank manifold. i gave it to my brother just before turbocharging it, so its his at this point, but built by me. We made about 265 whp at 8psi. not too bad, but we never put larger injectors in to run more boost. we sold it a eyar ago to some high school kid. its not a bad car, but nowhere near my FD.

i used to have a pfc...but no one around me said they could tune it....and we tried for a while to have steve come down, but that never happened. With the AIC i have a friend that can tune that all day long. so i may be sacrificing 10-20 hp. but i can tune it when ever i want and for a fraction of the cost.

I think I remember ths probe when it was N/A and the megasquirt. They were at the dyno one day right before I dynoed my car. They dynoe'd like 180 to the wheels. The two guys then told me to get rid of my "crappy" Haltech and put on a megasquirt. Then on my first untuned pass with My Haltech my car did 336 at 9 psi. They promptly got in their car and left. LOL

this guy actually sounds like an *******. the type to give probe/mx-6 owners a bad name. But if you look at it this way, his car was dead even with an FD till 90mph and only lost by 1.5 cars to 140. I'd take that.

One time I raced an FD in the PGT. My GF at the time was driving, it was late, dark and I didn't know wtf an RX-7 was. So my gf is riding his *** in my completely stock PGT. They go, and by the end of first, he was maybe 2 cars ahead, she missed second and by the time she got it in to gear, his tail lights were gone

But ya, maybe you shouldn't tell him to get the CZT parts...if he doesn't know about/aquire them, he won't be able to tune his car above 300ish whp, at which point, you can keep slapping him around with impunity.
