Took down a Z06 in a buddys 1st gen

Got to drive my friends RE swapped FB for the past 2 days, and I was driving back to his place at around noon today. A black C5 Z06 with what looked and sounded to be piped, cam, and probably a couple other little things, pulled up next to me in a gas station and revved at me as he slowly passed by. I was leaving anyway, so I followed. Got on the highway, and he fell way behind, so I figured he wasnt interested in playing around. Well, after about 2 minutes, hes right on my ***, then pulls around to the right side of the car. Dropped a gear, I did the same. And went from about 60-120. I had him by about 3 lengths. Did another run a little later, had a car on him by about 90mph. Then I let off cause I needed to exit.
The FB:
RE swap
Mild Streetport
TO4S
Meth Injection
Gutted
ETC.
15psi

Not sure about how much power the 7 makes. But it sure felt quick.

Not surprised, that car prolly weighs under 2000 pounds.

What kind of retard in a newer vette revs at a 25 year old (presumably) slow *** rx-7?

Im not sure how much FB's weigh with all the guts still in them.
But this one had 2 plastic seats bolted down, and thats it, no sound deadening, sheet metal dash (Which must have had a few bolts missing in it, cause that bish rattled like a ****, Stock fuel tank was still in it. But other then that, the floors had been replaced and new seats were bolded down, no carpet or anything. Lexan hatch and drivers window, for some reason, no passenger window at all. Yeah, Im sure its was light as all hell.

I think he revved because the 7 had an open downpipe, so it sounded loud. And ya know, loud car = fast car! haha

Also, any ideas on power for that 7? Streetported, TO4S, 15psi.
Atleast a ballpark of what it might be at?
He hasnt dyno'd it, and is being a little bitch, cause hes worried the results will be lower then he expected.
So whenever somebody asks what it makes for power, he says between 300 and 500. haha!

it has a rew in it right? I think the 400 whp mark wouldnt be an overly impossible goal with that thing he should most deffinatly dyno it..

Road racing build up. I was guessing around 375-400 as well.
You live in Hudson. Come over to Minneapolis in a few weeks when the car is finished (exhaust, brakes, cage, etc) And you wont need pictures. He said he wants it finished by the end of August. I guess theres some event at Road America the second weekend in September he wants to make it to.

A bone stock FB with all the goodies (a/c, stereo, power windows, etc) is about 24XXlbs. I'm sure with all the interior gutted+the added weight of an REW it should be around the same weight as stock.

Thats how must v8 guys are. They pick weak races to proove how superior their cars are. The same way they want to race civics from a dig all night and when the evos show they want to do 45+ rolls..

FTS!!!

I had an FB with a TII streetported motor, T70-1 Master Power turbo at 15 psi and it put down 440HP on 93 pump gas.
I use to play with All types of V8's and even some Twin turbo cars out there and I personally never lost.

To say I felt invisible driving her is an understatement..
Always loved to see their faces as I drove by them like they were standing still.

WISH it was still mine but I got into an FD so I sold her off for building $$$$

my old GSL-SE full weight weighed around 2300lbs.

quick little thing too. had a 145k mile stock motor with a RB header and straight pipe with RB muffler. I'd pull 15.7's all day long in the 1/4 @87mph

This is the second time I hear this in as many weeks and it is very strange to me that this is not common knowledge. My first RX-7 was an S5. Fast but heavy through the corners. My second was an S6. Very fast and nimble but not as nimble as my Miata. Now I came full circle with a TII and TO4 swapped S3. I went with the FB purely for weight and old-school looks.

I have 353rwhp and I beat a TII with just over 400. The guy is scratching his head trying to figure out what is wrong with his car till I tell him that mine weighs 2,300lbs and he is in shock.

General rule of thumb: Newer cars are heavier unless the designers went way out of their way to keep the weight down.
