If it's what I think it is "SHO" 3.0L 24 valve 200hp. Don't know what year he has but my GF has a 2004 Taurus...... and the much slower 3.0L 180hp. It's a dawg!

ya there kinda quick, they do 1/4 in 15-14 sec's stock, they have a v6 yamaha engine that has 220hp and i think 196 trq depending on the year, they also have a v8 235hp and 200 somthing trq in the newer models. there quick on the freeways, they'll go 150mph tops if there in good shap. older models have a 5spd trans, and the v8 models have autos and there heavy like supras. and oh ya, there fwd too
what year and model car do you have?

SHO`s
I have a 91` SHO - rare car, sort of.
The 89`95`s had a kick-butt 3.0 v6 made by Yamaha (thank you!!). With a stick - the only choice on 89-92`s, it pulled a low 15 qtr with a solid (for the time) trap of about 92mph. Lots of mods available too - cams, etc. Hi 14 qtrs should be common on 5 sp acrs. Around town and off the line the lack of torque is a pain. The v6 does wind to a stock fuel cutoff of 7300 rpm, and it make power into that range. 3rd gear is great from 60 to 95 ish mph.
Plenty of 93-95`s (most) were autos. Ouch. 4 sp auto. .5 slower in the 0-60 and , several tenths behind in the qtr.
96- on SHO`s suck IMO. Small v8 with very breakable parts. Lower redline. heavier car. Only 4 sp auto. Call it mid-hi 15`s stock.
The car is a hodge=podge with a hero motor (earlier cars) , and not a lot else.
Beats some cars though - gotta love it.

I owned a Taurus, with the right sway bars you can throw one of those cars around corners with the best of em, SHOs are a really great all around car. Ive never owned a T2, but speakign from experience, I know that one of those SHOs, with a 24mm/26mm sway bar set up will just carve corners, its a very neutral set up, not much over or understeer

SHO's definetly deserve some respect. They make for a great daily driver/cruiser. Very comfotable cars. And plus not that this matters but they have one of the coolest looking engine bays out there. The intake manifold is absolutly sick. If the SHO is stock you should get him. But if he's put any money into the performance be carful. With cams, a bigger throttle body and mass air flow sensor they can put down some serious power, in the 300's range. Just be carful and respect his car.

Haleillujah (sp?) a believer! Absolutely, SHOs are a car indeed deserving of a bit of respect, only beef i have with em is they drive the wrong wheels, and are EXPENSIVE to maintain

yea i'm not a big fan of the front drive my self, and they definetly are expensive to maintain but awesome cars none the less. On of my future projects will be to put a SHO engine into a ranger. . . oh man it will be fun. Anyhow did that kid race him yet?

I can't believe I'm hearing this... SHO's are *extremely* lame...
They deserve no respect. Seriously.
Any car can be fast. There is nothing cool or original about them. Regardless of the Yamaha motor, they are still ghetto pieces of crap. They sound TERRIBLE too.
Your car will SMOKE that SHO. No problem at all... Period.

Well, everyone has their own opinion, and you are entitled to that. But the say that the SHO is "a ghetto piece of crap" is unfounded. The Taurus is a great car, mechanically and, I think, visually. A waxed dark green GenII SHO is a sight to behold. Yes they are high mantainance, but you drive an RX-7, which is prolly just as high maintainance, if not more than the SHO. Sure its not as fast as an FD, or in this case, a modded FC, but its still a far more useable sport sedan with room for more than just one woman ;-). Plus rowing thru the gears in a car that size is pretty god damned fun. And as I said, there are a handful of supercharged SHOs out there that will give a lightly modded FD a good race, even so on "the twisties" with the proper driver and sway bars. Not trying to knock anyone or anything, I just happen to like SHOs and stand up for them, and every Taurus in general, good cars, theres a reason why they have been the best selling sedan since 1986. Next time you are in traffic, ponder why every 20th car on the road is a Taurus.
