just saying that rx7s are far and few between that can "hang". Not many rx7s here are trapping over 130mph it seems. and u would need a **** load more power than that to hang with these cars. You disagree?

i def agree with u there rich...but i just think there arent any street driven Fd monsters around. i think our cars are great if u want to run 11s....if u want to go fatser its damn hard and **** always breaks. As i said not many fds running around that trap greater than 130mph and are street driven. Look at Lupes car for crysake...that thing is MODDED..yet he traps 129mph. no disrespect to him but if he put that kind of effort into a different car he would be moving faster than that.
Someone used to post alot about this fact...i think it was Jasil or some other vette driver.....anyways....he is right.

I love my car...but a bruiser she aint. I think its prettyy hard to find a car thats more enjoyable to drive though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but arent most of the full race rx7s running with 10.5" tire mustangs and supras with radials??? I hope I am wrong and I know our cars arent designed for the dragstrip but you have to admit we just arent putting out the numbers the other cars put out. I know we have the weight advantage but it takes a little more than a 600lb weight advantage to make up for the lack of about 3-400 whp. Not flaming but it is really rare to see a rx7 run with a built supra or mustang.

EDIT: I read furthier into the thread and seen that Matty has pretty much already made this same argument. Sorry for not reading further

yep...what u are saying is precisely my point.
Whats even more troubling to me is how our cars stack up against just about any ls1 or bog v8 with a big shot as this is more of a real world application than Bs'ing about .0001% of the cars outhere.

I saw a z06 with a 100 shot smoke a single turbo supra the other day. These domestics with a shot are tough to beat even if u are single. by the time u spool he has 3 cars on u.

please dotn flame...just keeping it real.

Take a vette,ss,99+mustang gt and add a 150 shot and exhaust and you have a high 11 second car. However, like you said, rx7s are still one of the pleasurable cars to drive on the road.

OOOOOHHHHH, AAAAAHHHHH, Why doesn't anyone compare displacement to horsepower around here. Anyone with a 3liter 6 cyl running 1 or 2 turbors should beat a 1.3liter engine. If the person with the 6 banger can't, I think it's pretty sad.

I know Wolverine's might not be a Cobra, but I'm guessing it would weigh around the same. I guess you were right though, the Mustang isn't as chunky.
Oh, and good luck getting either car's crazy amount of hp/tq to the ground on anything but a straight line.

If the hp on the car is high it offsets the weights, like these guys are talking about. Okay so your car weights less but you don't have any power anyways. So who gives a ****.

Why would he run his 10 second, 1khp, MUSTANG on a road course? Not only would it not be able to handle, but it would never get traction. This car is intended for drag. What do you have 500hp? He has twice as much HP as you...you wouldn't do too well in a drag race against him anyway. Thats like having a space shuttle asking an airplane to race it to the moon. We all know his car won't do good on a road course. 1,000hp cars with solid rears usually don't. I even saw a 900+ or w/e rwhp supra on a road course and he couldn't hook up for his life.

Yes the power offsets the weight, but nothing makes a chunky car feel good through the TURNS. Besides, I only said both cars are chunky not slow. Romancer saved me some typing energy as well.
And I don't feel the need to swing my e-***** so I'll let the "my car has more power" statement go.

GT weighs 3,800...

100LBs = 1 tenth in 1/4 mile as a rule of thumb.

A friend of mine weighed in that high in his 1996 GT, but there are no official curb weights that high that I've seen. I also thought that it was 200lbs = 1/10th of a second?
Sort of off topic, but not entirely, there is a 315whp Celica running low 11's simply because the car is completely gutted. The best N/A time is 13.5 gutted with less than 200whp. Weight matters for more than you'd think.

Yes it was. If he turn the boost down and runs pump gas I'm sure the cars are similar with the weight and all.

So your car is under powered and slow, just like I thought. I can read you like a book kid. Have you ever driven a mustang or a mk4 on a road cousre?

The Mustang is a chunky car that I've driven many times and everytime I enjoyed the power, but hated the feel through the turns. It's just not an enjoyable car to me, which is why I didn't buy one. I can't say I've driven an MK4 simply because F&F fucked up the value of the car. I won't even waste my time with it. I've driven everything from CRX's to Evo's and STi's, and I'm very happy with the cars that I chose to buy. You can stop swinging your e-***** now since I really don't give a **** about how fast your car is... in a straightline.

Why would you challenge the guy, but only do it if he de-tunes his car? I'll challenge you if you take off your turbo. Then we'll be similar with power-to-weight too.
