I watched this video a couple weeks ago and than went to the supra forums and searched for the clip. They were fn pissed and saying how the 7 cheated or the supra driver just sucked.
looks like a pretty even matchup to me.
...and no the Supra guys weren't pissed & that driver is awesome.
Notice how they both decimated all of the later year domestics at their own track day....

I know the feeling that the Supra owner is feeling throughout that race. He wasn't racing the best lines though. It looks like the RX-7 just got past him on that first turn and wasn't making any mistakes. Damn hard to beat a driver like that. That's how Schumacher won so many, no mistakes.
I would love to see the same 2 cars, but with the same H.P, also would love to know how many more H.P the supra has, It is so much faster on the straights, it would get embarrased with the same H.P as the 7.
I laughed too when I heard the 7 first pass the Supra. If you listen to this video long enough while your tired you can imagine that the sound of the supra engine imitates frustration from not being able to pass the 7, but I dunno I'm really tired.
Those are both dedicated race cars. Roll bars, window nets, the Supra has a master electrical on/off switch on the cowl (hood).
FD probably weighs around 2500lbs and the Supra is 3300lbs. 800lbs makes a huge difference on the track even if the Supra makes a gangload more power. Corner entry/exit speed wins races for the most part.

Yea, that's the Redline challenge. As far as the Supra driver, he seemed to be pushing it fairly hard. Keep in mind, on the road course, smooth is fast even though it doesn't look all that entertaining on video.
I had the pleasure of instructing a '98 Supra at the track 2 weeks ago. The car is a lot more nimble than people give it credit for....

Had to be one of the best vids iv seen in awhile, excellent dog fight between the two cars. I got excited watching either car pull or dive in on one another.
Id like to see more vids and stats of these two.......
PS, this was not a *kill*, it was a great race between two cars. it should be in the video section!

I have seen this along time ago... video's been up for some time.. The guys are obviously pushing the cars very hard.. I showed it to someone I work with who professionally races his Porsche and competes in SCCA etc. It was obvious that the RX7 had faster cornering capabilities and the Supra was alittle faster out the corners.. Two beautiful cars, my cousin actually owns a pristine Supra.. He has a RX7 guy tuning right now (GT47)
