Smoked the evo again

friend that i raced before which had a stock evo turbo, recently upgraded to a greddy T-67 turbo. he was running 15psi (im sure he can turn it up higher, just doesnt have the supporting mods to do so) beat him by about 2-3 cars easy.

Im calling BS on this one. The evo boost 17-19 stock with a 16g. With only 15 psi going through a t67 he would be making a lot less then stock since that turbo need about 24-27 to even get started. Not to mention why the heck would you do that big of a turbo without the supporting mods? Either your friend is THE stupidest evo owner ever or your smoking some good stuff and imagined it all

mods are:
99 twin turbos
split second additional injector controller
2 additional 750cc injectors (mounted on greddy elbow)
Greddy profec 2 spec b boost controller
greddy elbow
greddy 2 row front mount intercooler
HKS racing suction intakes
koyo rad
b&m short shifter w/momo shift ****
aluminum ast
m2 down pipe
megan racing midpipe
racing beat single tip cat back

he just got the turbo.....so i dont know. all i know is that he said it was running 15 lbs. (for now till he gets the rest of the supporting mods). when he was still on stock turbo he was spiking 30 psi and holding 25psi. either way i still beat him......

this race is also from a 40 or 60 roll....not from a dig

well Evo 9s do boost 22PSI stock, so....yeah 30 PSI really isn't a huge stretch.

there has not been one single evo Running a stock 16G turbo that has been capable of passing 20 pounds. the flow of the 16g starts to clime down after that, thats why DSM's go to the big size turbos so they can hit the 30psi and actually make power out of it. I say that you beat him by luck but i would stay away from him once he gets injectors and a fuel pump and something to tune his 9 he will be making a good 350 to 400 awd hp and that gives you i really incredible take off, one that a rwd or fwd cant compare to...

What does a very strong evo put down for 60' times?

What is the limiting factor in a modified evo, power, or drivline parts breaking?

well then i was lucky all 5 times i beat him. also these races are NOT from a dig...they are from a 40-60 roll on the highway. i am well aware that he would beat me from a dig. I have a turbo/nitrous subaru that would dust my 7 from a dig...

Ok first off people seem to be VERY off on the evo information.
FACTS are evo's see around 18psi stock.
Most the time a reflash will allow 21-23 psi depending on the gas. I have a WORKS p2r flash for CA 91 and I spike at 21.5 and tapper to about 19.8-20.2 depending on air temps.
Guys running meth inj. are running 25-28psi in there daily drivers with NO problems what so ever.
Stock 05+ evo's with lsd front can manage a high 1.6 sec 60'
and the 03-04's a low 1.7 60'
all limited by the stock launch control and the clutch

Stock internals will hold 30psi depending on gas tune ect the stock turbo wont ever see 30psi however

^lots of incorect info.
a t67 on a 2.0l evo must puch at least 27psi in order to see any gains over stock, not only that but it would have SO MUCH lag that you would have to revit out to at least 7800-8500rpm's in order to get anything out of it and you would also need at least 880injectors, dual fuel pumps, better front mount intercooler&piping and 280 cams or better. If you do not have ALL of these then you just waisted a crap load of money cause the car will feel like crap and chances are you will blow it up. Most likely you would need a stand alone also cause the stock ecu would have a hard time keeping up with that much air flow. A well built and tuned t67 evo can make well over 600-650awhp.

I also raced him is name is darren. He blew his stock turbo so he just had the t-67 put on and yes he is running 15psi, a stock turbo on the evo can hold 26 psi on race gas. how would i know? (my friend was doing it on his evo 8). I also beat the evo from a 40 roll. i thought he would have lag with such a big turbo but he had a torque jump but i shifted into 3rd and started to pull and as soon as i hit 4th i pulled it even harder. He said as of now he is making around 350-375 whp. So for all of you who dont belive this I am another person who raced and beat him.

noone ever said it was a 16G turbo...the Evo 9s come with 20Gs if I remember correctly.

But I'm not trying to be an Evo expert here, all I know is that they are peppy AWD turbo 4 sedans.

If you refer to a Evo as "peppy", you better drive a Mclaren.

I thought the new Evos ran 18psi stock....pretty sure. Either way, the turbo is already being stretched pretty far...I wouldn't even consider running 30 psi on a stock Evo. Just because you "can" doesn't mean you should....notice how he "smoked the turbo" already, thats why he put in the T67. I "can" **** in a dixie cup and carry it around as a toilet...but i shouldn't.

The 16g thats in a 05+ evo can very easily push 24-26 psi and I wouldnt at all consider that "stretched" a 03-04 only has a 9.8 hotside so anything over 22psi is stretching it. The problem people run into with the evo isnt the motor not being able to handle running high psi its the fact that its got a 8.8:1 compression and you need high octane fuel to keep from detinating.

All i can say is thank god I am not a part of that forum. People complain about getting flamed here. If you even hint at a street race over there you have some crybaby trying to ban you .

PS. Its "detonation" and "hypothetical"

Yeah evom has a lot of dry babies on it... I wish they had a kills section over there cause some of them are just plain stupid when it comes to race stories.
