Talking Smoked a Carrera S...

Coming back from the car show in Beacon cruising at about 80 I spot these HIDs coiming up behind me. Its pretty obvious whatever it is, its chasing me. Sure enough, pulls up right on my bumper and backs off a bit. Closer look, its a Porsche of some kind(they all kinda look alike at a glance to me). So i speed up a bit to get past a car on my left and switched over. The 911 now was about 2 cars back and I saw the nose lift, here he comes...fly by. I let him pass me then downshift to 3rd and easily catch him and walk him hard!! I let off, line up even with him and signal him to go. I let him get the jump, my bumper is right on his door. I catch up to him, slow down even with him looked over waved good bye and punched it! shifted to 4th and watched him shrik in the rearveiw...had to shut down at 140 cause of tight *** turn coming up and he cought up. We were doing about 100 on the turn. As soon as the next straight came up I saw he got on it so I again caught him from about 3 cars back and walked him till 130 when i finally had enough..
I'm pretty sure he had no idea how bad i was gonna smoke his *** when he was trying to catch me! He gave me a thumbs up which is nice, specially coming from a guy who just spent 120k on a car you just brutally sodomized!
A good day, on the way to the car show, i was taunting a brand new Viper...he wouldnt go though, would have been a nice kill for me!

As for the 911's price......that was just a ball park ! We all know the cheapest is way over 75k so a higher "trim" being more $$ is not a stretch.
I've gone against GT2s and 3s and have beat both no problem. This one seemed a few cars slower than those. If it hadnt been for the HUGE rear tires and the Carrera S badge on the back I wouldnt have known which kind it was. I dont know the differences on 911s...kinda like a noobie distinguishing an R1 from a base. I'm sure it wasnt a boxter S, those things are sluggish at best.

911s are plentyfull up here! Just cause C&D, motortrend or one of those white rich man's mags can rip out a mid 11 quarter doesnt mean the doctors driving them can too.
I figure what the hell, its just for kicks anyways... that guy came looking for me though, how could i pass up...even if it had been a 959, i would have run him !!!

Run a 968....now that's a beautiful car....You'd be hard pressed to find one...I've only seen 2, and that was at VIR in Danville, VA.

Good kill,

but I don't believe it. Especially with only 324 to the wheels.

I don't think the Porsche was giving it all it had. Might have just been some
"spirited" driving.

either you dont know your porsches or they jusy werent trying to race you.

GT2's have 450 hp, GT3's have 380. i can believe the GT3 kill, but just barely. if you killed a GT2, you better have more than 400rwhp to do that.

remember, porsches have very little drivetrain power loss compared to most front engine-rear wheel cars.

Reading this post, and the link below as well
https://www.rx7club.com/ne-rx-7-forum-30/has-ever-happened-you-428947/

I have to say your credibility is fading fast with me. First you are "walking" Porsche's...then you are losing to 400hp cars you hang out with in some parking lot and are asking faster FDs to come help kill them....and now in the link I posted you have a wheel fall off while driving down the road and there is only "scratches underneath the car" but you aren't going to go after the shop????

There is no way on earth that a 324rwhp RX-7 is going to walk a GT3 on the highway. My car is single turbo GT3540R w/16psi and over 400rwhp and I dont walk GT3s on the highway. I can hang with them, but not walk them. They have 477bhp and weight 3200lbs or so.

Beating a Carrara S is believeable with your setup. 3200lbs and 355bhp. A 325rwhp RX7 should be able to beat it. However, I would not think it would be a major kill just a car lenght or so from 60-120 pull. Carrara S regularly put down 320rwhp on dynos. So your car would only have a 200-300lbs advantage and similary HP.

{thread hijack} I was cruising up the highway on my bike today, and there were 2 porsche's, one carrera, and one carrera s, they were dicking around with each other, and I hung right behind them. I dunno if they were going all out, though. I have yet to race anything on my bike so I dont know how it stacks up. But, for the price, I dont think they're worth it when you can get an FD, or even a c6 vette. But, you do get prestigue(SP?), I cant justify spending that much money for status, though. meh, oh well.

people think differently when cash is readily available. that porsche dude is prolly say the same thing you said about bentley owners.

thats why some people buy a rolex when it tells the same time as a timex.

somebody please raise the flag on this one. the chances of you beating a gt2 even with a monkey driving are slim to none and the chances of you "walking" a gt3 or a 2005 carrera s are also slim to none. i doubt you are running low 12's with that rwhp. and getting you from a roll would be much easier than having to launch the car at the strip. you may have beat an older, i.e. 96-98 carrera s, but i don't believe they had h.i.d headlights. i posted some test results below so you can see what you claim you are "walking".

Porsche 911 Carrera S
C/D TEST RESULTS
ACCELERATION Seconds
Zero to 30 mph: 1.5
40 mph: 2.0
50 mph: 3.1
60 mph:4.1
70 mph: 5.1
80 mph: 6.8
90 mph: 8.2
100 mph: 10.2
110 mph: 12.2
120 mph: 14.4
130 mph: 17.7
140 mph: 21.1
150 mph: 26.4
Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.0
Top-gear acceleration, 30-50 mph: 7.0
50-70 mph: 7.2
Standing 1/4-mile: 12.6 sec @ 112 mph
Top speed (redline limited): 179 mph

C&D on the GT2:
the GT2 literally bounds down the road, hitting 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and blowing through the quarter-mile in 12 seconds flat at 121 mph. Top speed is limited not by drag but by engine revs as the GT2 eagerly spins the tach to redline in sixth gear at 194 mph.
