RX-7 vs. S13 240SX
so one day after i finished pulling my engine out of my 7. me and my friend (who shall remain nameless on this board) decided to go race my near stock S13 (elec. fan, intake, ebay muffler) vs. his bone stock rx-7 (except for a ebay stage 3 clutch and bonez downpipe). first race was from a stop, we took off and he jumped on me about a car (becuase i dont have lsd and stayed burning out) then when ihit third i came up and passed him and just continued to pull on him. 240-1 RX-7-0. we then did a rolling start at around 15mph in 1st gear. honked 3 times and after i floored it my tires spun a little and i pulled on him all the way thru. Now i have a question. should a S13 with the single-cam 2.4 engine be able to beat a 89' GTU?

13B prob has more hp and better top end
ka24e prob has a little more torque off the line
that being said, it'd also depend heavily on which car is running less shitty, since they're both probably old as hell.

i'd expect the 240 to win, you really do have to wind the gears out on a s5n/a and with stock mufflers and intake i really don't think the engine would be pulling to redline very hard. also age has a major factor but it sounds like the rx7 is in decent running condition. if the rx7 had a catback and intake i'm pretty sure he'd be able to outrun the 240sx with only those mods. this is from my 91 n/a and 240 experience.

91 is dohc ka24de (when you say 91 are you referring to the 240 or the FC?) :P
his is a sohc ka24e, which puts out like 10 less hp and 5 or 10 less ft/lbs
if it was a dohc i'd put my money on the s13 as well.

I have shitted all over my friends 92 coupe SE(DOHC) with N1 catback, highflow cat, nismo cams, ported manifolds,and air filter with my 88 SE with filter, gutted cats, and catback. I put a good 2 - 3 cars on him. Now, my 90 GTU, with air filter, bonez racepipe, and catback is so much faster than my SE, ill be layin elephant **** on that 240.

yea my 240sx is a 90' so its single cam its quick off the line and rolling but top end sucks speedo ends at 115. and its not like im all for the 240 its just my daily driver for now. until i get my 7 bak up and runing which will be putting around 400hp when the engine goes back in.

lmao nice story!!!! its ok i lost.. soo wut!!!! well look all the times we raced i took him about like a car but then he just ****** rpaes me. he has more top end power. plus my 5th and 6ths ports arent workin properly if i did i wouldve spanked you!!!! but ur 240 is quick tho. well come on tis stock -_-. 4 now

My 91 NA in good running condition took out every single cam I faced. I never raced against the 240sx, but I took out a Civic Si with intake, exhaust, headers, cams, vtec controller, act clutch, spark wires and plugs, synthetic oil, carbon fiber body parts by 2 cars by the end of 3rd. My 240sx Ka24de with intake and exhaust beat it by a 1/2-1 car all the way and my other 2 friends sohcs with exhaust couldn't even faze it and lost by 2-3 cars. All of our cars had good compression.

im talkin about a pretty modded civic(intake,header,full exhaust,cams,clutch,vtec controller) vs a pretty stock car. My 240sx ka24de had intake and muffler only. my NA 7 was bone stock. my friends' 240sx's had mufler only and the other had full magnaflow exhaust. Well, point is my stock 7 was faster than any 240sx with exhaust and few mods. I bet my stock FC TII is faster than any stock sr20 too! obviously i aint stock tho.
