Retarded kill but good lesson

I just thought I would post this kill because of how retarded it was.

I was coming home from working on my 84 at my brothers garage when I got next to a SVT Cobra Mustang with, what looked like, a 16 year old driving it. I kind of laughed at the kid in his daddys car and started to get over for my exit. All of a sudden he comes flying up on me and tail gates me off the exit. Now, I know that as far as acceleration I'm screwed if I try to race him..... I mean I'm pulling 14's and that car should be pulling 12's. Anyway, as we pull out onto the road into Corvallis its a 35 zone and stages up to 55. Just as we get near the end of the 35 zone, I see him shift down.... which I'm surprised that it's not an automatic. I can't let him just take off, so I rev up and drop down to get ready. All of a sudden I hear him rev way up, almost as like he thought it was a Honda, and go down another gear. At this point I was very confused and punched the gas in second. My tires broke loose for a little ways but my RPMs picked up pretty good. I waited for him to pick a gear and chase me when all of a sudden I hear a horrible scream and see his tail lights and head lights spinning around behind me. As near as I can tell, he forgot he was driving a blowen V8 without traction control, and forgot that he wasn't in a Honda, and missed the memo about RWD. The car did about 3 full spins before he started to over correct and spin the other way..... all the time spinning his tires, and ended up in the on coming traffics lanes.

Why did I post this in the kills section? It's a simple lesson, learn to drive your car before you try to race it. You can't win a race if you can't get to the finish line.

Awesome story... I like the fact that he "double down-shifted", lol.

Yeap, wtf is up with that double down-shifting. This hasn't happened to me, happened to my dad once in Stella (red 88 T2). It was wet, off throttle, coming down a hill, hit a dip, and he spun. Saved it though. =)

Typical of people who learn to drive a FWD car, and then drive a RWD car. They don't understand the physics of RWD and it bites them in the ***.

Life is a series of lessons...some you repeat until you learn them!!

I think the kid learned a lesson this time.

And thus, I'm glad my first car was a 90 Mustang.

So true.... Lets hope he learned. Otherwise someone could get hurt the next time he makes a mistake like that.
