I got popped for that many moons ago (about 13years ago. ). If the fines haven't changed, say hello to Cal-Trans. You will get community service and a fine. The prosecutor in my case asked me to plead guilty, and he would do away with the fine. I just had to do 40 hours of community service.

damn.

my brother was caught "racing" by salinas pd. he was heading to work, his street was coming up ahead and this rsx was going about 25mph in a 35 zone, so my brother sped up a little to pass in a "casual" manner, then out of nowhere the rsx down shifts and guns it (he had the rice exhaust) so the cops turns his head and spots them.

my brother pulled into his parking spot and the cop pulls infront of him. they just gave him the ticket, didn't impound the car. they too gave him a speed contest ticket.

they didn't take away his car, just gave him a ticket. he went to court, gave his side of the story. the judge was cool, so he let him off with an Infraction, gave him a $370 fine with no community service time, but of course, this wasn't CHP (i'm guessing yours was).

In Ann Arbor they are activated all the time. The cops give me hell all the time when I drive my FB around town. RB header, RB exhaust, RB intake, and Holly carb, plus a tranny that doesn't like second gear when it's hot = loud driving. I take her to 25 in first, shift to third, and the coasting between shifts brings me to 30. I've had cops, numerous times, be so close to my rear bumper that their headlights are in my blind spots, and the only way I can tell if anyone is behind me is from the red light in their windshield. They are always recording.

Good luck with the fines and impounding. Hope no one messes with your car in impound.

I was pulled over for 63mph in a 25/30mph zone in my town. I was downtown and there was some Christmas event going on, so alot of people on the side of the road. Basically I was trying to make a right turn at the next intersection, and the car that was in the turn only lane at the last intersection ended up going straight so I was trying to get ahead of him so I wouldnt miss my turn.

I admit it was a little excessive, but if it wasnt for the other car, I wouldnt have to do that. Regardless, I told the cop my side of the story story on the spot, and was given a verbal warning. Over here, if you are going double the speed limit, you get your car impounded and you get arrested. I got lucky.

Also, it helps to have your law school sticker on the back window. Cause you could definately smell my straight pipes, hear my exhaust, hear my BOV, and see flashes from my flames. haha.

My suggestion is to get a lawyer.

Just a bit of advice:

Be wary of unusually low speed limits on multi-lane roads or freeways. The cops love to camp those.

Did you ever stop to think that the EVO was a decoy? Did he drive off or fall back once the cop came up on you? Can you find out if it's a police vehicle? Sounds like entrapment to me, but then again I am not an attorney which is someone you should be contacting.

i'm actually surprised what happed to the other 2 cars, I admit that i left a big gap in the race but it was a straight way to next block/light and non of the two cars showed up, unless they pulled over into the 7/11. it was kinda odd. they did tempt me big time by revving at me. YOU WOULD HAVE RACED THEM, WOULDN'T YOU?

I thought they crushed your car in Cali if you were caught street racing?

rx74ray,

Consider yourself lucky.

1) You didn't get arrested, you were held. Being arrested requires you to be booked. You can actually be trown into a jail cell (for a few hours) and it is not an arrest unless you get booked.

2) you are lucky they didn't get you for that single turbo and removal of smog equipment.

I guess it's possible. Like many others have said your best bet is to get a lawyer.
