Talking Raced the car dealer

As I am coming home from the gym, A brand new Mustang GT exits the Ford dealership. We blip the throttles at one another, but there is traffic. No race here. He pulls off, and I follow. He pulls into a driveway, and picks up his girlfriend. Then he walks over to say hello. He introduces himself, and hands me his business card. He's a salesman, taking the car for a "test drive". We head out to a my favorite race spot. We are going about 30-35, and he hits it first. He immediately gets a full car length on me, then I start pulling him in. At the end of second gear, I have gained 1/2 car length back. Smooth shift, and mid way thru 3rd, I take the lead. By the end of third I have almost a full car on him. Into 4th, and more of the same. I let off at about 120, with about 2 cars on him. After the race he was very shocked. "I saw you coming up, and then you blew by me. Man, that thing is fast!" He was very complimentary. He said they had a new Shelby in the showroom, but the blower wasn't working. Then he invited me to come in and test drive a car any time I wanted.

Nice guy. If I were in the market for a new Ford, I would go see him. I really like the way he "introduces" himself to potential customers

New Mustang GT runs a 13.5

Boxter runs a 13.8

Depending what porsche, it's believable.

I started out behind by a car length, and beat him by two cars lengths. Do the math again . New Mustang GT is 300 HP.

^^ Agreed. Straight line, they have the gearing and the torque to get up and go. They still cant turn worth a tinklers darn though.

I believe you man but I do not get it, you pulled and beat a modded sti that probably had 330 hp but a gt with less hp and more weight and definetely not the gearing like an sti and you beat by 3 lengths. Were you actually running full boost when running with the gt?

It wasn't exactly a setup race, so I wouldn't sweat the technicalities. He said the 'stang jumped first and got a car on'em, so he had to reel'em back in for the win. Nothing shady about it, just not a very organized race.

I think the STI was around 260 (ish) rwhp. My car should be close to 300. 13 psi is full boost for me.

dude he says he started behind and then the stang jumped first. So it takes alil more time to win but he won by 2 cars which really means 3 cars and if they both took off at the same time it prob would have been a bus length. I had the same thing happend to an s2000 he took off first by 2 cars and then by the top of 2 shifting into 3 i went by him like he was standing still. Good race, but we already new the 7 would win!

It would be nice if the salespeople didn't thrash engines that aren't even broken in. Heck those clowns don't even warm up the car half the time before they thrash a brand new engine. That pretty much makes for the car you don't want. Sad thing is they sell them just the same.

That said, while I still had my FD I'd cruise up and down the dealer row here in Scottsdale. At the time the C5 Z06 and 350Z was the popular car for the stealership sales guys to be out test driving on their regular thrash loop inclusive of the freeway. I kicked all of their a$$es without variance.

"the blower isnt working"

I hope that dealer knows ford puts a boost limit on the brand new shelbys that lasts (i think) 8 miles, so that the sales people cant beat the **** out of them.

I bet they dont.
