Yellow R1, please excuse me for getting you all fired up. I didn't ever say that rap was a dialect. Rather, I explicitly stated that "ebonics" is a dialect, and when it all comes down to it, that's what you were ridiculing. And damn, you must have been pretty pissed to start coming down on an "english idiom", if you haven't heard of that before. I don't understand why you would expect me to take the time and bandwith to look up your profile- as if i give a **** about you, and notice (for your own enjoyment) that you are some corporate manager or product of a 20 year corporate heiarchy. way to show off the irrational side-effects of elitist society. as if you know damn well something you don't. and when you find the time please understand the difference between criticism of ideas and concepts, and criticism of the person.

I'll bring you up on current events, "ebonics" are not a dialect of the English language. Its a convenient "name" given to some slang street talk (typically spoken by the uneducated). Hey Genius......Creol French is a "dialect" of French. Mandarin is a dialect of Chinese. Ebonics is NOT a dialect of English. Do us all a favor, GET AN EDUCATION.
I best go to bed so I can get back to my "elitest job"
Listen Genius, if you want to keep hijacking this guy's thread - have at it. Its obvious you have some personal issues to address
You have a nice day LL Cool J!

I agree, he should have turned the music down during the actual runs but the music is fine and shouldnt be criticized. Im into all types of music so its not like im trying to defend "rap".
Would i've been in the right if i said country music is stupid, bunch of rednecks who sing the same **** just enough to sqaure dance to? No, because its music certain people love, that they listen to. If we all listened to the same music, this world will be boring as ****.
And no, not all "rap" stars or listeners wear the baggy pants yo with the bandanas saying yo yo yo yo i gots to get mine yo. I listen to hip hop mostly and i dress far from that.

Couldnt have said it better myself.
Sorry guys, I'm going to contribute to the side topic...Ebonics is not an english dialect. I will never give once ounce of credit to ebonics. Its uneducated street jiberish. I got a math degree with a teaching certificate while I was in school....in order to do this I was FORCED to take a class on how to speak ebonics...now that was humiliating...I was forced to learn how to speak incorrectly in order to get my degree. Its honestly pathetic that anyone would consider that crap a valid form of language.
i think its funny how many people claim that nobody can understand rap and its not music but metal or heavy metal is cause to me it is faaarr easier to understand rap than it is to understand people screaming into the mic
and i also believe that it is easier to listen, dance, and **** to rap or hip hop than the head bangin music but everyone wants to pick on rap
my guess is those people are deep down prejudice and it effects all of thier judgement towards anything that has to do with other cultures

Man, what the hell did i say about fronting? you're doing it way too much.
i can't believe your *** is preaching like you know something. don't tell me to get an education, i was a linguistics minor. and for your information, (and i'm sure you didn't know this being as willingly ignorant as you are) you should tell these fools to go get an education right ?
http://privatewww.essex.ac.uk/~patri...bonicsQ&A.html
Why "Ebonics" is a language:
A language is a coherent system of signs - a grammar of elements and rules - which is used in a regular way for purposes of communication, and also for social symbolic purposes (such as making clear to listeners a speaker's identity, how they feel about themselves and others, and how they perceive a situation). African American Vernacular English, or AAVE - which is sometimes called "Ebonics", but not usually by linguists - does all these things and more, in ways just like other languages do.
So, it's a language.
Why AAVE [="Ebonics"] isn't a separate language, but a dialect of English:
Most of the time when people question whether AAVE is a language, they mean, Is it a separate system from English? in the way that German, Chinese, or Jamaican Creole are separate systems. In this sense, a dialect is a complete system that overlaps to a great degree with some other, super-system. Thus Bavarian German is a dialect of German-in-general (but it's not a dialect of Swiss German); London English is a dialect of English, and U.S.A. "Broadcast Standard" English is also a dialect of English.
AAVE, too, is an English dialect. Most of its components in the dimensions of grammar, lexicon, and pronunciation are widely shared with English - either with standard American English, or with Southern White English, or with vernacular dialects of English around the world. So it's not as separate as German, Chinese or Jamaican Creole, which all have very different grammars and lexicons, and which are all unintelligible to monolingual speakers of American Englishes. On the other hand, AAVE does have its own distinctive features and functions. It can be spoken badly, or imitated inaccurately, by whites (or blacks) unfamiliar with its rules; and it symbolizes community and cultural values for its speakers that no other dialect of English in the world can convey.
Is AAVE [="Ebonics"] slang?
Ebonics is not slang. Slang refers to a relatively small set of vocabulary items which are ephemeral - they gain and lose currency rapidly, go in and out of style. Slang does not have a grammar or rules of pronunciation; it is not a dialect or a language. Like other terms which have technical definitions for linguists (such as "dialect", "patois" and "pidgin"), "slang" is often used by non-linguists - not in the way I have just described, but rather to mean "a way of talking that I personally look down on".

In the future, please don't make yourself look so terribly stupid by not even having half an idea of what you're talking about.
If you were to walk into any well educated setting spouting that **** you would get laughed at and kicked the **** out.

That sounds like a racist to me. What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Your right, no need for you to continue talking. Just make sure to put "I hate hip hop *******" in your sig and dont talk about it ever again.
back on topic, i heard that meet was 2 parking lots full of cars

My life is complete!
I find these guys to be a little fresher than Dilated, but I can't say The Platform wasn't a underground classic.
I just saw his bday, no wonder he hates rap. lol
Anyway, his opinion means nothing. Hip hop will always be around and quite frankly, i think hip-hop draws the most audience than any other type of music. I mean its everywhere. Look at your selections on your cable, urban music has more selections, look at some sites on the net like videocodes and ****, urban has more selections, go into your music store, urban has more selections. Does that mean everyone wants to be gangster yo and say yoo yoo, i can shoot a gun? No, the music is enjoyable.
Funny how people diss the hip hop culture when alot of the "rappers" out can make MILLIONS off one stupid song talking about ***** or weed. Sure the song is stupid but that goes show what hip hop can do. And if it sounds good to you, dont matter what the **** they are talking about, thats all that matters.
7THSIGN, good choice for music, def do more of those in the future, put some D12 or something next time

Of course, i can care less if he hates it or votes for it to die, im just posting because what he is saying is the wrong reason why he hates it.
Cause if thats the case, there should be NO types of music because each style of music has their own type of group. All other people can do is stereotype them. What each group are (for certain types of music) doesnt make the people who listen to it nor the people who make the music bad.

Nice vids BTW.
For the Rap haters.....Rap music is considered the Poetry of today. If you don't like the music than don't listen to it, it is your choice. My english teacher last semester was going back to school to get a major in Rap music, so intellegent people do listen to rap music. Don't hate on something that you just don't understand.

They left of the C.. C+rap=crap.
I am not a huge hip hop fan but I liked the way the video was done and the music was a definate plus. At least you could see what was going on. Most of the night vids that come across here you can't see crap.

Thank you
So then if "rap" isnt real music or a real culture, neither is anything else out there except jazz since thats a neutral sound.
Rock music must suck cause all people who play it have piercings out the *** and tattoos and get coked up before every show.
Techno/dance people must suck cause they go on X and go crazy with their lights and ****, dancing til they collapse.
Country people must suck because all they are are western people in boots square dancing to some dude playing a banjo.
Seems like if rap sucks, so does everything else because if other people believe other peoples opinions, then rap isnt the only type of music out there that should die or be called garbage etc etc.
Or how about basketball for instance? It must suck now because everything associated with it is based around hip hop?? I dont think so.
