Mach 1 with 150 shot according another forum where I got this vid.

no way man. Mach 1's come with 300 Hp (and are underrated) from the factory now this car add 150 shot to that.

SRT-4 stage 3 kit yields 310 Hp (according to the mopar site) and that's Flywheel hp, at least think it is because it's quoted factory number. Even if it was 310 Wheel HP that's quite a pull on that Mach 1.


I think that Mach 1 was not spraying. What do you all think?

Also take notice: on the second run there is this blue car that passed them both! WTF? I guess everyone hauls *** these days lol

I know of a local SRT-4 that i have raced that put down just under 300hp to the wheel and over 300lbs of tq. I think he broke 300 oon his last tune. i haven't seen him in a while though. so i don't know what he's up too now.

 

SRT-4's can move the **** out, don't under estimate um

 

 

I respect them dont know why people hate them. You throw an acura or vw emblem, jack up the price to 30-40 grand, and change NOTHING on the car, it would be the best thing since sliced bread.

It's got power but they put it in a fugly neon! I don't care if there are ones faster than my 7 but my 7 will always look a million times better, fast or not. I'd drive my 7 even if it only had like 100 hp just because it's so damn sexy. haha

What this thread is about is that I really find it hard to believe that Mach 1 was spraying. Because 310 HP is not really *that* much to completely walk it the way that it did.

 

Yeah, I know of several 400+ whp SRT-4s in my area. They definitely can haul ***. The only thing I don't get is us RX-7 guys get **** for our cars being "unreliable", but it seems like every week someone posts they broke something in their SRT-4's engine again on another forum I am on.

 

9 out of 10 SRT-4 drivers are high school jackasses. I have met only 2 normal guys that drive them. I like the car, I HATE THE DRIVERS(some).

 

well we have a whole decade to spread the word on reliability regarding FD's (that'w were this reliability issue started). The neon srt-4 is a fairly new car. Give it a few years.

 

I've see couple of mid 11 second SRT4s at my local track.

Personally, I think SRT4 is an ugly car but can be made to go fast, just like any other cars.

 

no he was not sprayin and sounded mainly stock you take a mach1 (305hp) and an srt-4 stage 3 (310) and the difference being weight the mach 1 is damn near 3,500lbs and the neon is like 500lbs less so there is the win but if the stang was sprayin he would win or even a few bolt ons my boy has one with 4.10's cai x-pipe and catback and it made a BIG difference he must have dropped a half a second in the 1320

Well, the main point is that it is a bargain. When you jack up the price to 30-40 grand you can get cars with more potential and RWD (i.e Cobra, Supra).

I don't call a SRT-4 a POS like everyone else because it is a bargain. If it was 35k, it WOULD be a POS.

gears definitly do help mustangs, i cant remeber the stock rear end but its pretty pathetic. the first mod you should do to a stang is get 3.90 or higher rear end gears.

 

i have a vid of myself racing a stock srt4, a lightly modded mach 1, and a lightly modded (intake and exhaust) cts-v that you can see here for a point of reference.. the srt4 race i spun pretty bad, they are normally 6 or so cars back.

my car is a couple cars faster than a stgII srt4, ive never raced a stgIII but i assume that one of them would get me by 2 or 3 cars, and you can see how i got the mach1, so its not too unbelieveable.. but the stang definately was not spraying. that or the srt had more than just a stgIII mopar setup


my car in the video was making about 250whp except in the beginning when it says the stuff about the misfire.. it was running like *** then.


just thought id post since i have a lot of experience running the cars in question here and have vids of it

^^ the fact that it does not seem plausible that a stage 3 SRT-4 could beat a Mach 1 with N2O the way that it did.

 

definitly not spraying. he would be going much faster than that. dont look at his speed compared to the neon, look at his speed compared to the surroundings. no bottle.

 

When me and my friend took his WRX to Denver to get tuned there was an SRT-4 with 515horse aprox to the rollers on stock internals.

 

The real question is how much of that actually gets to the road? Can you say wheelspin?
