Thumbs up N/A RX-7 VS. Maxima

ya so i thought this guy would beat me cuz he had a time slip say'n he ran 14.7. but he said he lost because he had a passenger and i didn't but uhh... I'll let you guys decide!!!!!!
The plan was we would go the third time he honked his horn but i couldn't hear the 3rd honk over my exhaust so he got the launch. i just waited to see when he took off then i went. Here's the video from his car...

If he did "run a 14.7", doesnt mean he did in that video.

That being said, if your car runs 15.5 from factory, you're not gonna beat a car that runs 14.7.

Chances are both of you guys had a shitty run (if you were to run for times) but you beat him anyway. Def looks like a mid 15 second run if you guys had a clock.

Good kill. Your car is loud as hell lol

eh... 14.7 seems way to fast for a maxima. I used to run a high 14 before my rebuilt engine. I was always about 2 cars behind this gsx (eclipse) that ran a 14.7 with an intake/exhaust and a street strip clutch. To get a maxima that quick would require *alot* of gutting or a ka24 turbo setup on low boost (hrm look he has gauges! either a ricer or a turbo setup on low boost)

Personally I think that a n/a 7 with light modifications is very fun to go out and show up all the street civic's maximas and other people who will race. It's not much of a challenge, but some of those people need to get knocked off their high horse and realize that their car is not as fast as they think it is.

From watching the video, I would guess the maxima is a mid 17's (in that run and not less than a high 16 any other day). It takes off at 1 second, and is not quite through 3rd by second 18. I don't know gearings on a maxima, but I know it would have to make it at least through 3 gears. You pretty much ran away from it and I would guess your car to be stock and you to run a low-mid 16.

Sure I could be totally wrong on any of this, but count the gears for the maxima through the seconds on the tape...

Good kill though!

Alot of people are good at judge a car's 1/4 mile time by a video, I wonder how you all do it.

i think this is a 99 with some mods and spray but he didn't spray it in this run. he is a friend of mine and i seen him run 14.7 all motor and 13.8 spray'n at the local track. I also watched him beat a 350Z all motor on the street.
i dont know what happened cuz he didn't mis shift or anything. i know that wasn't a 14.7 pass on the vid. but if you hear him at the end of the vid he is shocked i beat him, too! he says, "what!... are you serious?"
i thought that was funny.

Your really good, you can tell how fast the run was down to the tenth just by the video. Funny how you defended the guy with the Z06 but you cant except this for what it is. With you, theres always something when the 7 wins.

No but i can determine how slow cars are.

And do you mean "accept" this for what it is?

Btw, i did say "NICE KILL" to the 7 owner. I didnt argue that he won, he did win and PUT IT ON VIDEO. I just said that particular run looked slow as hell.

Thanks for cockriding my posts. Ill keep you updated on my other posts so you can keep on quoting me.

HA HA! **** ride your post? You cant be serious with that statement. Im on this thread just like anyone else would be, but look who showed up. His point is that maybe his car can run better than 14.7 but you automatically opposed that because you can tell how fast his car was just by the video. Please dont flatter yourself, you have over 10,000 post now, your almost in every f*cking thread. lmao "**** ride my post"

No im very serious about that statement. Its rather easy to point out actually as i've seen countless members do this to me in the past but they finally gave in and put me on ignore, something you should do to prevent any of these confrontations in the future.

Here is what the OP said

ya so i thought this guy would beat me cuz he had a time slip say'n he ran 14.7. but he said he lost because he had a passenger and i didn't but uhh...

So basically the OP knows the maxima is faster than his car, just going by the maximas' alleged 1/4 time. In this video, the 7 beat the maxima by a good 2 cars at least.

His FC is NA.

So not only do you suck at analyzing, but you also cant comprehend what you read and quickly to throw an assumption. I said GOOD KILL with added opinion. I didnt say he won because maxima mis shifted or whatever. That race he won.

I guess you're still on your period from the z06 thread that you automatically assumed i was mocking the 7 again, you came right at me, AGAIN.

Btw, yeah everyone is on this thread, obviously me since im a post ***** but look who QUOTES who FIRST?? LOL

Yeah, you're def a cockrider. Its ok. I love having fans

How wide are your tires? I am close to my brother in law with a 14.2 timeslip and my 205 all weathers can't keep traction through first and going into second (launching at 2500 rpm). They used to burn out way less when I ran a 15.0 or so launching at 4-5000 rpms. The difference in power I needed to run that much quicker caused traction problems.

I'm pretty sure that guy has his times off if he beat a 350z all motor. http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan-350Z...lip-14619.html Shows a stock 350z running a 13.5 without a great launch you're still looking at a 14.0. The average 1/4 mile time for a stock car on many of the forums out there is 13.9. I would consider that a good kill but would not try to estimate a time off of that car. If he were a little more consistent you could be a little closer.

@ rotormind + 1 quick 7:
The forums I moderate on, I make people like you guys take it to pm's. I'm not a mod, but it does seem a little better to take it to pm's than fighting in someone elses kill thread.

I agree 100%.

I never started anything. A forum is opinion based.

Thats why the ignore list is one of the features that can be used on a forum, to prevent thread bashing.

If what i have done in the past was soo wrong, i would have been banned a while ago. I speak whats on my mind. Its not my fault it doesnt comply with everyone elses mentality.

Thats why i have ALWAYS said to put me on ignore if you dont wanna see what i have to say or just shutup about it. Plain and simple.

Btw, sorry for another worthless post to this thread.

NICE KILL jesse

If your having traction problem get a set of goodyear eagle f1 tyres, they hold my fc fine on the street, can floor it in first without spinning and they are 215's only chirps second and 3rd too no real spin

this was an auto 350Z he said he ran high 14's so they thought it would be a good race and it was but the maxima came out on top by about a car and a 1/2.

Personally my 86 n/a is going to have to go with alot more than a 215. I have a 205 allweather performance tire (used to do really good in the rain before the extra weight reduction/streetport now too much power in the rain). It rains part-most of the winter around here, and if the road is wet at all (rained earlier and all but the last bit has dried up even) I have no traction through first. Second will send me sideways (no lsd) and third is just as useless (I bet fourth too but I'm too scared to stay in it through 3rd to find out.... ) If I get aggressive in second right at 4500 rpms the car breaks loose. The traction problems are only a little better on dry ground. Eventually I'll go with a 9-10" wide wheel with some flare.
