My FD vs. a Vette

This just happened so its fresh in my mind. Im on my way back from work and im goin about 70, when i see a black corvette in my rear view mirror. It was probably an 00' - 01'. He passes me and starts weaving in and out of traffic. I was bored so i decided to follow him and put my FD to the test. We just kept playing follow the leader until the traffic cleared up. At this point im in front of him and decide to go for it. We start it off goin around 75-80 MPH and i was in 4th. He gains on me off the start pretty easily and next thing i know he's about 4 car lengths up. I throw it into 5th and i notice around 100-105 MPH, i start gaining on him. I quickly close the gap and even to my own surprise fly past him going about 130. I look back at him and he was about 3 or 4 car lengths back when i start to slow down. I waited for him to see if he wanted to try it agian, but he didnt want to go. But yea thats my first post in the kills section, and driving around in an FD i know there is going to be many more volumes.

feels good beating a big V8 with a guy now confused that a "toy car" just beat him.

just some tips, at 75-80 you probably should have gone to 3rd and you still had a lot of 4th left to wind out too if you shifted at 105.

That statement alone guarantees the vette driver wasn't even trying.

sorry bro. Aristo is right that dude was not even racing. Most likely he was in a hurry to go somewhere when all of the sudden some dude does a ricer flybye on him lol.

he might have left off... cuz how do you get 4-5 lengths behind a vette that quickly and start pullin it after 130 where the vette shines? if he pulled you that hard at the start i bet he thought he had it won and didnt see the point in continuing. 4-5 lengths is a LONG way out

The Vette beat you badly, and then let up. The race was over. One of the reasons he beat you badly was because you don't know how to drive your car.

That's a good attitude . Nice to see an 18 year old that doesn't think he knows everything. You will improve. You should try autocrossing. It will really help you to learn to drive your car. There are a couple of good clubs in the bay area. Do a search (google) for SCCA.
