Thumbs up My FD vs. '04 Cobra, MODDED :D

So I haven't driven the FD in what...almost a month or two now. Been studyin like a **** for my boards...which were today (it was horrible...don't ask ) So of course, the #1 thing on my list is what? DRIVE THE FD.

I get home, take a nap, get up, and my boy comes over, and we sit there trying to unflood the FD w/ the EGI fuse method for like 20 min lol (I didn't feel like pulling the plugs, it was too hot to be working on the car, blah blah). So, we pushstarted it. (It had flooded the last time I tried to start it...so I never got around to unflooding it). Finally got her started, and it's time to roll.

We go out for a nice cruise...car isn't pulling has hard as it should, as its about 83 degrees outside, humidity's 79%, and this is at 11pm!! Anyways, nuff w/ the background.

So I'm on my way back to the house, we're just chillin, doin 50, tryin to stay off the radar lol (it's Fairfax County, 'nuff said). All of a sudden, I see headlights coming from an onramp, and they're approaching FAST. Couldn't make 'em out until the car flies right by me. It's an Orange new Cobra, and it's DEFINITELY modded. The exhaust tone was a dead giveaway.

The Cobra pretty much flew by me, doing about 70, w/o even looking over. So I'm like...what the hell. Might as well have some fun. I give it some gas, and pull up next to the Cobra, at which point he takes off. I was in 5th, so I drop it to 4th, and start reeling him in...when we come up to a traffic light. The light turns green, just as I was coming up to it, so I rev matched to second. He had come to a stop, and took off in first. We went WOT, and he pretty much spanked me...got maybe 2 car lengths on me, and I couldn't even close in on him...and he even got off it for a second, thinking I was done lol. But I wasn't

So I keep pullin, come up next to him, and he gets on it again. We're in third, there are a few cars here and there, and I slow down to get behind him to get in the right lane, since the 3rd lane (far right) just ended. Once he passes the car in the left lane, he goes WOT, and so do I...keeping it in third. I was prob doin about 60 at this point...he was already ahead of me, so he still had about 2 car lengths on me since he took off first. Topped 3rd (105), and I'm now right on his rear bumper. Go into 4th, chirp the tires (damn...finally a good shift! lol), and I'm slowly gaining on him. At about 125 - 130 (very close to the top of 4th), I had barely edged my front bumper a TINY bit in front of his, and was still pulling, when he let off, and so did I. We immediately hit the brakes, scouting for flashing lights lol...and he comes up next to me and gives me a huge thumbs up. I do the same. Thank God it ended there, cuz my 4th to 5th shift is SUPER slow...(broken 5th gear synchro, AGAIN - bad motor mounts lol - original!)

The next traffic light turns red, and he jumps into the left turn lane. I pull up next to him, and I was like NIIICE! He said somthing about how he "loves those things!" (RX-7s), and I proceed to ask him "That thing's fast man...what you got done to it?" He said he's got intake, exhaust, headers, pulleys, chip... a bunch of mods. I asked him how much he's makin... he said "503" !!! Now I'm thinking to myself, OMG, this has GOT to be flywheel hp, cuz my FD is NOT that fast. I have 88K miles on the original engine, w/ low compression, making only 9psi vacuum at idle lol. The engine is TIRED, and the stock twins are blowing oil. But that's what he said... we talked a sec about how we were both scared about the po-po, and he told me how he was just arrested last week for racing that's when I was like yep... DEFINITELY Fairfax County haha.

According to the PFC, air temp was 53 degrees C, and water temp was 96 degrees C. Mod list:

1994 R2, body kit, CF vented hood, CF rear spoiler (for downforce), custom front undertray and RE rear diffuser, 245/35/18s front, 285/30/18s rear, on SSR GT3s, brembo x-drilled/slotted rotors, stock R2 suspension, PFS SMIC, fabbed hardpipe + greddy elbow, M2 intake & hardpipes, Pettit DP & MP, HKS CF Ti Exhaust, ACT HD S/S Clutch, PFS lightened flywheel, B&M Shortshifter (for mAdD fAsT sHiFtS yO! lol), PFC w/ aggressive PFS/Don'tBeARikki 13 psi WOT tune on stock twins, stock engine (87K), HKS Twin Power Ignition & Efini Y-pipe, Greddy pulley, stock fuel system (injectors & pump), TB coolant bypass lol...umm I think that's about it. Not that heavily modded.

I've already taken a WRX STi modded, a 2004 Porsche 911 4S, a GSX-R, an RC51, and kept up w/ a Z06. Now I just added an '04 modded Cobra to the list, and that's w/ him alone, and me WITH my passenger Car impresses the HELL outta me for the mods and age/wear it has

A) Don't ask me...I report the facts as they lay. Ppl LOVE calling BS on all my kills for some reason lol. Prob cuz I never share the lame ones...just the crazy ones. 2) He was shifting slow I believe (I didn't notice it...but my boy kept on saying that) 3) 503 at the crank, w/ 18% drivetrain loss = 412 to the wheels. I have about 320 - 330 to the wheels, EASY. Right around the 100hp rule. VERY doable IMO.

EDIT: Oh yea, the lambo doors GOTTA somehow make the car faster, right?

503 might be wheels take into account that the weight according to the manufacturs spec sheet v8 weighs in at just over 3300 stock. , if he is doing 412 to the wheels then it is 8.1 for his power to weight ratio. if your car is 330 and has the stock curb weight it is putting out power to weight at 8.4. So there is a possibility that given a bad driver you could have beat him. And have you ever played nsu2 the cool car looks the faster you go and more repuation points you get lamer.

I'm not surprized. Myself and friend of mine that owns an fd(430rwhp) raced a 500rwp cobra and beat him by like 3 cars to 130mph.

I would not be surprised if the Cobra pushed over 500+rwhp. I heard they respond really well to upgrades. The motor in the 03+ Cobra is well built and can handle tons of boost from a super charger or turbo. If it wasn't a fat car, I would buy one myself. You cant beat forged internals out of the box. Congrats on the race Ramy, hope I run into some high powered stangs and vettes.

Yea I should...I'm guesstimating my power just by how much the mods should give me, but the tune I have is really the key IMO. Even Ray @ PFS was surprised by how aggressive the map was. I'll dyno her soon, just outta curiosity, right before the overhaul

Ummm.....I'm driving a n/a 2nd gen. Plzzz don't call your FD's slow. There are only 2 FD's in my entire town, and nobody here can touch them. Gotta love it!!

HELL NO lol. I can get her to chirp in 2nd, and that's by straight up DROPPING the clutch, but that's about it. The engine's tired...she *should* pull harder. A LOT of guys claim to spin the tires in 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd (not just chirp 'em) on a new, strong, or ported motor I mighta unconsciously semi-powershifted (didn't fully lift off the gas) at that shift. But I NEVER powershift. Real bad for your clutch & tranny.

1) Anyone who'd race up to the 140mph range is an IDIOT if they're new, and doesn't sound like they're a *****. That's pretty damn fast. If you come up for a sec on the bike, you're liable to get knocked right off. 2) No video. 3) Check the thread...there's a HUGE discussion about others also being suspect, and others claiming it's 100% possible, etc. The thread's several pages long for a reason

All I know is, I don't post anything unless a) It's real, and b) I'm SURE it was an actual kill. In my book, that means at LEAST winding out 2 complete gears...which is usually 3rd and forth. That means a pull from 70ish to 140. That's a LONG run...kinda hard to mistake that

whats done to those FD's in your town?

and i was being sarcastic a bit when i said fd's are slow..idk, maybe im just used to my car but i think its slow and theres nothign wrong with it mechanically, i guess i just need more power basically i have all the bolt ons, non seq and i still think im slow (which is true because thats like what? mid 12s with a good driver in the 1/4?)

and mid 12s is not fast, a 500+rwhp cobra IS..

thats why i said what i said..

-One has a 20B with about 15k dumped into it. The other i'm not sure of, but still nowhere near slow. And, I'm probably doin bout mid 18's in my 7 just to give u a realization of what slow is. lol

I think my FD is fastER than a hella lot of cars, but it's not FAST in MY book. Fast is "o m g I'm NEVER going full throttle again" typa fast lol. Straight up scare you $hitless type. That's what I'm going for

exactly, IMHO when your 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear is pretty much useless on the street, THATS when you know you have a fast car..thats when you're like, "ok, i think ill go WOT just to scare me shitless, then i wont have to drive the car for another week"..LOL

but if you can go WOT and drink coffee while doing it, you're not driving a fast car

and bolt on FD's are in that pack..

your FD is not fast if you dont have a big single or a 20B in there IMHO..

like i said, maybe im used to the power of my car, my brother thinks is fast, my dad think its fast, most of my friends think its fast but since i drive it all the time and i know what its capable of, i dont feel that anymore..
