You must be damn good with sound. I've been around bikes for a long time and I can't for the life of me tell the difference between a 600 and a 1000, especially once an aftermartket exhaust gets on there.

 

I'd disagree on that one. If you had an average rider, which I would consider decent, it should take more than 400RWHP to take a 600 nevermind a 1000 unless you are talking about a hi-speed roll above 100MPH. It takes between 750 and 800RWHP minimum for a Supra to keep up with a Hayabusa in a roll and a GSXR1000 is right on the heels of a Hayabusa.

 

Supra's are heavy. A 400 hp FD ran 10.98 (Boostn7). Don't GSXR-1000's run 10's? So, an FC, which is lighter I think, would be damn close.

 

I'd say even more than that. My buddy has an modded 04' Mustang that is putting down around 425 to the wheels, and he can't keep up with my modded F4i.

And once aftermarket exhaust is on a bike, it's near impossible to distinguish between a 600 and a litre bike. My bike with a Two Brother's system has a lower rumble that some litre bikes around here actually.

 

A Supra might be heavy but in the upper speeds the weight won't mean much.

If you're going just off of weight the power to weight ratio of an RX7 won't even be close to the power to weight ratio of a GSXR1000. I have no idea how much an RX7 weighs but someone can chime in here and correct me, but say it weighed 2700lbs and has 400RWHP that would give it a 6.75 lbs:HP ratio and the GSXR1000 with a rider say weigs 650lbs and 152RWHP would give it a 4.27 LB:HP ratio. But we all know there is more to it than power to weight ratio.

A GSXR1000 with a good rider is a mid to hi 9 sec bike, with a decent rider it's a low 10 second bike.

 

Oh, I didn't know GSRX-1000's ran 9's. I would say it would take at least 501.7+ for a 7 to keep up with it low, but from 80 + rolls I would say 453.7 rwhp will suffice.

 

Then again if you run into the right rider a bone stock RX7 could waste a turbo Hayabusa. To many factors to ever say for sure what the outcome of a race will be. In a race if you win you win, it doesn't matter what the car/bike could have should have or would have done under different circumstances.

ya the problem with racing bikes is that most riders are inexperienced and just cant push a bike to its full potential. but ill tell you one thing nothing will ever replace my bike not even the 7 even though i love them both.

after swapping out the stock exhaust my 87 T2 weighs about 2300lbs.

 

are you adding the weight of the rider and a full tank of gas or is that dry car only weight?

 

I assume that is dry with no driver? Do you have any weight reduction done to it? I know that 87 TIIs had the really heavy steel hood instead of aluminum (I had both an 87 & an 88 TurboII). I also think 2nd gens are heavier than 3rd gens by just a few pounds. My weight reduced 3rd gen was 2600+ when measured on a scale at Moroso track without me and just 1/4 tank of gas. I know a good exhaust can take almost 100 lbs off the car and 2nd gens are already lightweight but I was just wondering what else you have done to the car.

 

Either you stripped your car completely or you're smoking crack.. My 87 TII weighs 2605 after going to a 3" single exhaust (Thunder Fab/Corksport), removing Cruise, AC, PS, all emissions, sound deadening, spare, etc..

 

I weighed my 88 nonturbo at work(we have a certified scale) with I think around half a tank of gas and without me in it and it was dead on 2,700lbs thats with nothing removed and completely stock(it also have back seats).

I have yet to weigh my T2, as soon as I do I will be sure to let you guys know whats up.

TIIs are a little heavier, somewhere around 3K lbs stock..

 

it is tough to ride a bike that has a lot of power. I used to have a 600 and could really wind that out, but still havent got used to the zx9r. If im going 90 in 3rd gear and take off, its tough to keep the front end down. It weighs about 400 lbs and has 145 hp. Ive seen 1/4 mile times in magazines for my bike at very low 10's so Im assuming a gsxr1000 can do the same, but Im definetely not that used to the bike yet. Anyway im sure the guy was taking it easy, or the bike was a 1987 honda 250....

came with an aluminum hood, no one in the vehicle and with a few gallons of fuel. it is a base model with no power steering or add ons and fabric seats. this was the weight on the sales reciept upon delivery: 2362lbs
