My FC vs. Suzuki GSX-R1000

was just on the road with my friend Austin. i was driving him around with the camera, and came across the bike.

we rolled off of a stop light and cruised. from the light, he had about a car length in front of me.

once i hit 40, i floored it. he heard me floor it (bridgeport) and floored it as well. he had a car length in front of me the whole time, from 40 to 100-110.

the video was taken tonight, so Austin should be able to get it up and going sometime soon.

anyhow, i was running at my daily 12psi instead of the agressive 15. i was also shifting at a max of 7500 from 2nd gear to 4th. i think if i gave it my all, i coulda taken him or atleast gotten ahead by a fair amount.

fc puts out about 400 rwhp at 15psi.

video will be up soon.

bikes arent the best from roll ons as everyone knows, & gsxr-1000's are very quick bikes. hope this vids good ;) was it a newer gsxr? oh BTW, nice kill

IRPerformance 03-22-05 12:55 AM

I've beaten an R1 when I had my rx-7 and was putting down about 430 to the wheels. We went from about a 50-60 mph rollto 150 and I had 2-3 cars on him. He probably wasn't the best rider though. The new gsxr1000 is very fast with a good rider, but alot of guys are scared of it and don't ride it to its full potential.

speedx7 03-22-05 01:32 AM

can't wait for the vid ;)

Busa413 03-22-05 07:05 AM

My bet is that the new 2005 GSXR1000 will be the bike that will take the king's spot fromt he Hayabusa this year. If it does it's about damn time seeing as though the Hayabusa is six years old. (and hopefully Suzuki will get silly with the Busa for 2006). Can't wait to see the vid. R u sure it was a 1000? If it was my guess is that it would be a 2002 or so. The 2003/2004 is nasty and I would think it would take a lot more than 500RWHP to hang, but I could be wrong.

blackkiller7 03-22-05 10:33 AM

humm
i know my dad ran a 6.5 1/8 mile on his stock 04 1000 and the bike just gets faster. I also had a friend with a 1000 go to the track a week later and only ran a best of 7.9:rlaugh: just didnt know how to ride it

Not trying to be a dick but the guy probally didnt know how to ride or the bike wasnt that new. Only holding a car on you ....... even with your 400hp im gonna say he doesnt know how to drive

Beny 03-22-05 10:57 AM

bikes dont go from rolls well. the guy was prolly not to experienced (alot of 1000 riders are slow and have big bikes for bling factor) but its not that crazy

Bikes don't do as well from a hi-speed roll but lower speed rolls they are just fine. For a 600 this would be above 100, for a 1000cc or up it would be above 120. The more I think about this it has to be the rider or it was a 600 with 1000 stickers (you would be surprised at how many people do this). A newer (within the past 4 years or so) 1000cc bike should have no problems with a 400 to 500 RWHP car. If it was a 2003 or newer GSXR1000 it shouldn't have even been close, unless he was in 6th gear when you started. A GSXR1000 should be able to handle a 700RWHP car from a low speed roll up to the 140 - 150RWHP range.

Recipe7 03-22-05 02:47 PM

its possible he wasnt a good rider, this is only my second time racing a bike, so i dont know how to judge really.

last time i raced a bike was 2 weekends ago, and i blew my ic pipe off my turbo shifting at 8500 from 2nd to 3rd. that was the reason i was so hesitant about shifting so high, even though i took all my ic pipes off and re-tightened them, i was being a little puss hehe.

anyhow, the bike looked brand new. i should have asked him what year and if it was 600 or 1000. either way, the video should show and you guys can decipher.

lately ive been reading into bikes and driven a few (going like 50mph max) and im really interested in the gsx 600 cause i hear its super comfortable.

anyways, ill try to get the video up.

Busa413 03-22-05 07:13 PM

so you'r not sure if it was a 1000?

it's hard to tell the difference unless you see the numbers.

the 600 is a great bike but it's not comfortable at all, it's pretty much a race bike. you could ride a couple hours on it and be o.k., but after that you'll want to throw it into a ditch. If I could have two bikes though it would be either the GSXR600 or 750.

More details on your setup ?

Thanks!

DannyD 03-22-05 07:27 PM

i have a gixxer 600 and my ass and back hurt after 20 mins...

geargrabber 03-22-05 07:37 PM

i rode a minibike just up a down this one street only once, and man did my ass and leg muscles hurt.

it must be scarey as all hell to ride a bike for the first few months or so.

JTP 03-22-05 07:44 PM

I have a GSX-R 750 and I have no problem pulling away from cars, I would imagin a 1000 would blow by you with ease.

ether way good death, got to give you credit for giving it a shot :)

get more horsepower and get back out there and go at him :)

On my Busa? (it's the only bike I have at the moment)

2003 - Webb Cams, Brock Hindle full exhaust, PAIR valve removed (it's like smog on a car), Air box mod (allows it to get more air) BMC race air filter, short stacks ( I guess it would be like throttle body spacers maybe), TRE (removes top speed restriction), Power Commander 3r (allows for fuel injection map changes), custom dyno tuned.

about 20% more RWHP than stock(184RWHP)

blackkiller7 03-23-05 09:33 AM

hahaha know what i just though of , what if the bike was an sv1000 :rlaugh:

Busa413 03-23-05 09:47 AM

The SV1000 is still a 10 second 1/4 mile bike with a good rider. Put some mods on them and they can scoot. I saw a video not that long ago of an SV1000 with a big bore kit and nitrous that was outrunning a Hayabusa from dead stops and low speed rolls (the Hayabusa rider obviously didn't know what he was doing though, you could see it in the video). There were like 4 bikes (busa, SV1000, and two smaller bikes like 750 or 600) and they were racing a Cobra with a Kenny Bell (does that make sense) super charger. The cobra was getting destroyed.

fcrx88 03-23-05 01:24 PM

ya all bikes are fast from a light but when we hit a high speed roll is where a fast car can hang. i went from a 70 mph roll against a v12 benz 4 door and he was less than a bike length behind me and neither of us pulled anywhere and we went to 150. and no a 600 isnt comfortable at all. i have mine lowered an inch in the rear and its still uncomfortable.

Busa413 03-23-05 03:10 PM

how about the video?

1RevvinFC3S 03-23-05 09:23 PM

Good kill. Honestly, if you could hear the bike, you should know if it was a 600 or a 1000. 600's have that signature, high pitched "Mweeeeeehhh" sound to them, whereas liter bikes have a deeper "Mwwoooommm" sound. I'm not sure if the onomonopias helped at all, but I tried.

Fire85GSLSE 03-23-05 09:44 PM

Man, I would have to see the vid. I had a 03 ZX6R with a few mods and never had a car hang with me. Maybe I was just a little more crazy than the other drivers. And my bike did smoke a stock zx7r my buddy had. I never had problems hanging with the guys that had the stock 900's either. Well, ended up selling the bike after my little girl was born.
Wish I had it now since the gas prices are jumping up

i would have to say my kawasaki 636 doesnt have that high pitch sound at all....i have a micron high mount and its very rumbly sounding. my 636 doesnt really have a problem hanging with most stock liter bikes at all... mods are k&n filter, micron high mount, kleen air mod (removes some emissiong garbage), air box mod, and power commander ( custom map), mobile synthetics keep my baby reving smooth, and soon to come are the cams and dyno tune.

RotaryEvolution 03-23-05 11:21 PM

i wouldn't have bothered to downshift racing someone i didn't know was wanting to race, line up with him on a roll and when you are both ready then a would consider it a race. no offense but this was not a race, driving my FC also would be the same circumstance. you prep for a race not just toss someone into it and expect them to be ready for it.

we were together for like 2 lights. we kept eyeing each other everytime. it was the inevitable =p

Outkast 03-24-05 06:11 AM

If you have a 500 hp (400 rwhp) bridgeport than I beleive you can keep up with most average bikes with agerage drivers. Good race
