Cool Modded FD vs. Turbo Civic, Spraying Saturn Ion, and Evo IX

Beautiful night tonight in the 50s. I went out to the race hangouts in Miami with a buddy of mine. Upon pulling into the lot, I see a red civic coupe (I want to say 93-97 maybe) with a monster front mount. About 10 minutes after parking my car, the driver's buddy asks if I wanna race. I've never raced a turbo civic so I was down.

The race was to be from a 50 roll. I started out in second, honked 3 times, WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! He quickly left my front end next to his door at the start of the race. We went to about 140 and his rear bumper was about half a car in front of me. His passanger got it on video so I'm sure it'll be floating online somewhere. We get back and I give him major props on his car. It's a B18 Turbo pushing 8-9psi.

Second race was a guy my friend knew who had a blue Saturn Ion. I found out the Ion beat an 05 GTO so I knew it wasn't playing. The Saturn had intake, exhaust, piggy back, stock supercharger and 100 shot of nitrous. 40mph Roll. I honked 3 times in second gear and quickly put him at the back of my door. Shifted to third and by the end of that gear I had about a car length between us. Shifted to fourth and we stayed somewhat even. One hell of a sleeper Saturn that apparantly spanks Evo VIIIs all the time.

Lastly, we came upon a brand new Gunmetal Evo. It looked beautiful. The Saturn raced it from 40 and the cars were very even up to 100mph where the the Evo let off. I lined up with the Evo from forty and the race was about the same as the Ion, except he got a slight lead at the start and I pulled by him. He wanted to go from 20mph in first, so I gave it a shot. We raced and I messed up my shift to 2nd as an SUV cut out in front of me on the highway about 60 ft ahead of me. Oh well. The Evo was a brand new Evo IX with 3,000 miles and an AEM Intake. Beautiful car with a really nice driver.

So I went 2 for 3 tonight, and got to see some really awesome sleeper cars in action.

Mods are in the sig. This is on a fairly new engine with 850 miles, boosting around 9psi with an open wastegate due to certain mods.

if you ran them at 14 lbs of boost you would not have lost.

You're right. I'm holding out to get a boost controller. If I put the stock pill in the wastegate, It'll spike around 15lbs which is just over the limit of this ECU.

Yup. I babied it to 500 (4,000 Rpm, 5psi max), changed the oil, slightly harder to 750 (6,000 rpm, 8-9psi max) and after 750 I started going WOT on it.

I did this based on a lot of reading of my own as well as other engine break in threads. I will still change the oil at 1,000 miles though.

(As a side-note, I have no idea WTF Lupe is talking about.)

The engine break-in period is the 10 minutes you let the car idle the first time starting it and changing the oil. The motor is broken in after that, i've built two motors and floored them out of the driveway, both are still running strong.

Rotaries?

If so, did you use new housings? Regardless, probably not the brightest idea. :P
