These motors are bulletproof.
And why would you want to rebuild a motor every couple of years, when you can have one keep running and running and running, and use the $ on tires and brakes instead? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Considering there are guys with over 300k miles on their 98-99 C5's, I'd say it's damn possible. I've got 113k miles on my supercharged C5. There's a guy on the CF site that has over 40k on his 07' Z06 so far no problems. Oh yeah, and he's had the car since March.

wtf? no lies I ran he spinned and I got ahead. we ran again and before I spooled he left me. a loss is a loss. no lies I ran him on 14 lbs on this race and ran again on 17lbs (not on video) and it as a lot closer but when we dynoed @ 17lbs I only did 448 which was the same dyno where he did 487. I lost end of story.

ok what it boils down to is cranking horse power out of a motor, would a 2000+ rwhp zo6 last 70 thousand miles? or could it ever be done? lets see 72 hp per liter doesn't sound impressive to me, so maybe the motor isn't being worked hard enough. granted I guess engine size doens't really matter cause the ls7 is just about as light as the 13b rew but I give props to a motor that can make 450 rwhp with its 1.3 wankel wonder ( which = 346.15 per liter )
end note racing motors get rebuilt cause they are pushed to the limit much like a tiny 1.3 making 255 stock.
and sorry for the post jacking
funny thing is I am just posting this crap cause I get tired of people bitching about engine life, don't like it get a different car, and if you already don't own one then go hug you recipicating motor and laugh at how rotaries blow ever other time they start!

personally I would get pissed if a honda (S2000, Integra type R, and even the Civic Si Vtec...including its retarded brother the Del Slow) made more hp per liter stock then I did.

These guys do this practically every weekend without engine failure, nor have to worry about over-heating. How many of us can keep our rides running cool as hell when racing for 30 minutes or more with alot of redline in there? Even my boosted C5 gets hotter than **** with the supercharger putting out heat.

I've only got one chance against the new Z06. And that's if he doesn't get the jump on me. If I can jump him, even for a split second, I can stay with him. And I'm pulling 40rwhp more than him. Those things are mad fast, and I know 7 guys who have them(one has over 500rwhp with just intake, headers and tune). That's one car I know would put me in my place. Especially on the track.

All this talk about rotary engine rebuilds is overblown. If half the people on this forum did proper reliability mods to accompany their power mods they would stop blowing their engines (it has nothing to do with power & everything to do with keeping the engine cool & not starving it if fuel). So many owners start moding their FDs & don't get bigger injectors, fuel pumps, more efficient IC's & radiatiors, no silicone hose replacement, nor properly TUNE their FDs. It's no wonder when their rotary blows it's from one of the above factors (and they are always clueless, "what happened").
I had 127k miles on my modded Turbo II when sold (motor was still OK) & have ~ 40k on my modded/ported FD engine - zero issues - runs like a champ (on & off the track). It may take some up front investment/knowledge on "how" to properly mod & tune an FD for power AND reliability but that is what must be done if you want to maintain your FD properly. Once the reliability mods are done, it's no different than any piston motor - you just need to "fix" the Mazda design shortcomings with better cooling/silicon turbo hose replacement & a proper tune if power modding. My 2 cents ;o)

on a completely different note I love how everyone talks about how rotaries only last like 70 thousand miles and crap, am I the only person on the face of the planet that wouldn't care if I had to rebuild my motor ever 5 years??? Had to do it to my Turbo II, my friends S5 NA, and soon probably my FD. But who cares dammit if you make power **** breaks, and if rebuilding something that breaks or goes bad is to expensive or hard for you don't mod or buy a fast car. You want 200 thousand miles drive a damn accord and leave the fast cars to people who get their hands dirty fixing ****!!!!

And just to get this story straight...
** In the 2 roll-on races recorded in the video you posted, what boost were you running?? 17PSI or 14PSI?
** What boost did you dyno the 448RWHP at?
** Were you running straight pump in all the runs or any alky/meth anytime?

One thing not mentioned is the Z has got a great flat torque curve with excellent gearing for top end pulls. That against a peaky small dis. car I'm not surprised he got beat.

dear darkphantom if you are running high 9s in air to fuel ratio you are running the engine too rich you should be in the 11.3 -11.5 air to fuel ratio you are slowing the engine down with too much fuel that is why you got worked by the vette.
