when my bro first bought his, i thought it was the ugliest thing ever as well. but then when you are actually around them and work on them, you learn to appreciate it. now, i think it looks mean and for what it is, it's fast and the handling isn't bad like people make it out to be.

it's all personal choices, i mean, there are people out there that think FD's (all gens, for that matter) are ugly and i personally don't find the looks of FB's/FC's appealing, but since i keep seeing a lot from them in this forum, i'm learning to appreaciate (little by very little). you have to drive/ride/(better yet) own one to completly make up your mind about it - i know having driven/worked/partially owning one (it's in the family, hehe) COMPLETLY changed my mind and the way i look at them. but as said before, to each their own.

True, they don't handle horribly. They just can't get to the point that a lot of other grocery getters are with equal suspension mods. What probably started the myth is that stock they do handle like ***, but Mopar remedies that with warranteed upgrades that are often sold with the car.

its true bro, i know srt-4 are fast , a guy in the dyno that i go had 2 srt-4 the first one he put 497fwhp but he crashed it lol, and he bought another one and he did 512fwhp those neons are no joke lol and he did it with stock block. right now i have some mods but i know that im still no chance for the srt-4 that beat me my mods are:

1-safc2
2-rb turbo back
3-walbro fuel pump
4-running 11 psi
5-intake

if i had these mods the first time i raced him, it wouldve been a damn good race, but know the kid in the srt-4 did 13.3 on the 1/4 mile. he keeps improving and investing more $$$$ on the srt-4 lol. but i will get him soon but for now he's faster than me and i respect that neon cause he havent invested a lot of money and he did a 13.3 at the 1/4 mile thats damn good. he put 282fwhp at the dyno lol im not close to those numbers yet lol. and one more thing jic-> i really don't see why it sucks to loose to a srt-4, they do 13.9 with a good driver stock and our turbo 2 do a 14.9 with a good driver stock. so why the hell it sucks, they run faster and they will very much kick you're *** unless you have some mods, so stop talking stupid thinks jackass.

I don't know what the big deal is about LS1's. If you don't like a huge group of engines then you are a fanboy, not a car enthusiast. What's wrong with wanting your car to be fast? It doesn't matter how you get there(but bottles are for babies). I personally love my rotary and right now I wouldn't trade it for an LS1, but I figure if it ever gets to the point that it needs a third rebuild then I'll jump to get the motor that I'll never have to worry about. 0 rebuilds for me so far, but the last owner did one 3k miles ago.

EDIT: Crap, I hope I don't start another LS1 flame war.

im a fan of many engines,nissan rb26dett,toyota 2jzgte,toyota 4age 20 valve engine= one of my favorites,mitsubishi 4g63, but ls1's and other v8's= no chance.
but to each their own.

That's a shame. You're missing out on the motors that can perform better than any of the ones you listed when modded equally. They can even be put into cars that will handle better than most. Sounds to me that you're still an import fanboy, unless you can come up with something better than "I hate V8's"

lol soory man but i just dont like v8's thats it, for me i dont see the fun of v8, these days 4 cylinders are letting more to talk about than 8 cylinders, here in puerto rico you see 4 cylinders doing 8 seconds almost everytime, 8 cylinders for me is just a big engine cause these days 4 cylinders, rotary engines are destroying them in 1/4 miles and on the street. for example look at the eagle talons and mitsubishi eclipses does cars can handle up to 500 hp whith stock block, thats something to talk about, but 8 cylinders have to get a supercharger to eveng get close to those numbers and a supercharger is a lot of $$$$, there where the old 455's engines and 502 big blocks that produce big hp n/a, but now ls1's and those engines are using supercharger almost everytime to get to 500-600Hp+, and i can assure that whit what is going to cost for you to buy a supercharger maybe 3k$$$, i get and eagle talon tsi and invest that same money into it, and youll be eating my dust all day long. my bro has one eagle talon he kickss my *** all day long and corvettes, mustangs, gto's etc. last time he dynoed the car and he put 398 awhp whit a safc, bigger turbo, exhaust etc,and he did 11.9 at the 1/4 mile. know he added a microtech, cam gears, and some other stuff. but haven't tune it yet. a corvette whit 398 whp is not going to do 11 on the 1/4 mile i assure yo that. the fact that 4 cylinders do those kind of numbers whit not that much hp is why i like imports over american cars. and another thing is because american cars weight too much. but to each their own. please correct me if anything is wrong.

Go see a NHRA top fuel or funny car, and then try and talk some smack about v8's. Dollar for dollar v8's win. What is the no holds barred fastest 4 cylinder? answer, not even close to half as fast as a HIGHLY LIMITED TOP FUEL. Better yet, find a four cylinder that makes HALF the power of a TF motor. How does a conservative 3000 RWHP sound? GOOD LUCK WITH THE VTEC

LS1's don't need a supercharger. a nice cam, heads, headers (good airflow) will give you roughly 430rwhp. get more into the internals and i guarantee you'll see a BIG difference.

one main reason why the vette probably wont do the 1/4 in that time would be because it's heavy compared to an import. power/weight. now an FD with an LS1@398rwhp will run you a better time than 11.9 guaranteed. shim that corvette down to the weight of an import and bam.

if you just hate the engine just to hate it, cool, but in reality there's pretty much no flaw (that i can think of) in the design on the LS series motors. around here all the high power output 4 cylinders are boosted, not everyday you see an all motor 4 cylinder breaking 10-11's, but i have seen N/A Fbodies hit 11's despite them being fat pigs.

the V8 thing was just a suggestion, not a mandatory-like solution to the problem.

if we're talking about "street cars," then would those puerto rican cars pass smog here in california?? nope. will my LS1 FD pass smog (after im done with it) and still break/clip into the 10's. oh yes.
