When you swap out the emissions, like the cat etc. you get weight reduction. Secondly, you can make 350 whp without a SP.

Here are those words: This is simple high school level physics and calculus. Mr rx7 tt is correct.

3D space has, by definition, 3 dimensions - we often call them x, y, and z. Let's consider the motion of a car as it moves from some starting point, which we will set as our reference point (the origin... remember what that is?)

We can plot the position of the car in the 3 dimensions versus time (so, time is on the horizontal axis). So we have the position in the "x" dimension as a function of time, the position in the "y" dimension as a function of time, and the position in the "z" dimension as a function of time.

Since we are talking about a roll or drag race, we are only really concerned with one dimension (since it is a straight line race). Let's choose "x".

I hope you already know that we can model the motion of almost any given "large" (larger than a particle, I mean) object with mathematical equations...

Let's say that this car has a motion described by x = .5a*(t^2), where t is time and a is some constant (you'll see). I hope you understand that (t^2) means t squared. I also want to point out that I picked this function arbitrarily (well, somewhat abritrarily).

Do you remember what a derivative is? It's the rate of change of some function (position, in our case) at a given point. The derivative of position with respect to time will give you velocity as a function of time. So velocity = (d/dt)(x) = dx/dt. That's not dx divided by dt, the way to read it is derivative of x with respect to time.

So we have x = .5a*(t^2). dx/dt = a*t. So to get the velocity at some time, we multiply "a" by the time. Let's call it v = a*t. We can take dv/dt, and we get dv/dt = a. The derivative of velocity with respect to time is ACCELERATION (or, the second derivative of position with respect to time is acceleration). That is why I chose to use "a" as a constant - the "a" in x=.5a(t^2) is the actual acceleration of the car. Therefore, the acceleration of this car is constant with respect to time - it does not change as time goes on.

With this example, I hope you can see that you can choose any function to be your acceleration. Let's say that the acceleration of a Corvette is "a" (so, it's constant with respect to time) and the acceleration of an FD is a*t - it changes linearly with time. Start plugging in values of time into the acceleration for the FD - you will see that at t=0 , the FD acceleration is 0, at t=1 it is 1*a, at t=2 it is 2*a, etc. Remember that we said the Corvette acceleration is constant? So at t=o, Corvette acceleration = a, at t=1 it is a, at t=2 it is a, etc. You can see that at some point, the acceleration of the FD is larger than the Corvette's (after t=1, to be exact).

We can integrate these functions for acceleration to obtain velocity, and then position. Remember that integration is like the reverse of derivation...

Once you do that, you'll see that the position function for the Corvette is .5*a*(t^2), same as before, and the FD position function is x=(1/6)*a*(t^3). If you are capable of simple algebra, you will find that they reach the SAME position at t=3.

Thus, acceleration can be different but the two cars can still reach the same position at the same time.
