Killed by a TRUCK...
Not just any truck either, it had to be one of those ugly old beater fords. You know the kind- complete with two hill billys and one cowgirl in the middle? Well, i'm from montana so i suppose its a common thing to me... Anyway, i dont usually post in this section but i need somewhere to vent my dissapointment. I guess it had a 351 with a race cam and a fresh rebuild, probably headers and such. I drive an 87 turbo- mostly stock, with an intake, gutted cat, and ported wastegate.
Off the line, i do believe i dumped it a wee bit high, because i spun the tires for long enough for him to get ahead of me. I stuck right behind him the whole time, but I didnt gain anything on him at all. I think it was my fault, if i had a better launch, i may have had a chance... idk.
Anyway, my wastegate wasnt ported enough, because i still have to feather the throttle to avoid fuel cut. So with that fixed, a real exhaust, a wideband, and an rtek2.0, i think i'd be alot better off. Maybe even some 720s... hmmm...

Well, there are some of those where I am at, and it is a little expected. They usually have huge motors in them, like the ones the muscle cars use, but they are quite a bit lighter. A cab and the bed, usually doesn't weight too much. And with all that power.
Interesting though.

Yeah, I still think that trucks are less exiting just because they dont look cool though! And nobody can deny that the big v8 rumble is cool, but nothing comes close to the rotary hum for me.

If it were an old school truck, it could have had a couple of different motors in it. Could have had the 351 Windsor or Cleaveland, could have had a 390, or could have had a 460. Needless to say, all of them are good motors when built properly, and that truck doesnt weight a whole lot, sheet metal bed on a frame, with a cab.

For anybody who cares, i found out more about that stupid truck, it has a 200 shot of NX, and i'm not very into nitrous so i'm not exactly sure what that means but it sounds like alot...

I'll believe 200hp, it was very impressive. I was not expecting that at all. It actually makes me feel kinda good cuz when i finally got going, i didnt lose any more ground on him.

Respecognize!
that is why you race them on an decreasing radius turn...
actually a few of my friends are huge turbo diesel cummins guys. Even with the 5 or 6spds, they are damn fast. If they had the automatic (which is a garage transmission) it would be MUCH faster. But they do tractors pulls.
we are also talking about 500+ hp 1000+ ft/lb torque trucks here....

My brother was telling me about an ugly *** truck that was racing in missoula and was pretty fast, and it was using nitrous too, maybe the same truck. It's kinda funny that people invest money into such ugly vehicles.

A lot of big trucks these days are not slow man. The 6 liter in my denali makes 320 stock and should do well over 500 awhp with the turbo setup which will admittedly be MILD, on a STOCK engine. You can build the newer engines to make as much as 1000hp on forced induction and still be more streetable than a bridgeported rotary.
My paint man has a 500rwhp lightning, I have driven it and it is pretty stout. He still got scared when I drove him in my t78 HBP FD before I sold it last year.

Actually, im pretty sure the guy was saying he had a 200 horse shot of nitrous...and the brand was NX(Nitrous Express). The X doesnt mean the quantity of juice. My 2 cents.

he probably didnt even use the 200 shot. if his motor can hold a 200 shot then the engine has to be putting down 350 to 400 hp.
